Pros: No noise, compact, and cheap.
Cons: Hard to assemble, time-consuming, inefficient overall.
The Bottom Line: You have better things to do with your time. Buy an electric pump!

| juk723's Full Review: Avent Isis |
After hand expressing drops of breastmilk during the early days of engorgement, a friend gave me her Avent Isis. I was very hesitant at accepting it at first, thinking that I was going to buy a double electric pump first, but I accepted the pump anyway.
The Avent Isis is an affordable manual pump and has the benefits of no noise and compactability. However, that's where the benefits cease.
The Avent Isis is very time-consuming: Case in Point-
1. Directions/Instructions-Although the pictures are nice and helpful, it took me a couple of read throughs before I could even be comfortable in touching the pump.
2. Sterilization-You will need to sterilize the components of the pump by boiling the parts for 10 minutes. Again...time-consuming.
3. Assembly-The first couple of times assembling the unit will be frustrating getting used to. Later, you'll be a pro at it, but it gets old real fast.
4. Cleaning/Sanitation-You will need to break down the unit and hand wash all parts and then wait for them to dry. This gets old real fast too.
5. Leakage-I experienced leakage from the petal suction cup.
6. Unit-Too many parts within this unit. It is real easy to lose the valves in the garbage disposal. Complicated to put together.
7. Expressed milk amounts-It took me 45 minutes to express 4 oz. from both breasts.
All in all, a mom has better things to do like sleep, spend time with baby, etc. than to figure out how to work this manual pump. And with the average amount of milk expressed, its not worth the time and effort put in.
