Pros: Cute designs, Avent name is trustworthy
Cons: Nipple is way too small, hard for baby to keep in mouth
The Bottom Line: We've tried about 10 different types of pacifiers and the larger ones with the 'bubble' on the end seem to be the best. These are just too small.

Avent pacifiers are definitely different then most other pacifiers out there as far as looks go. I decided to try them because I was happy with their bottles and pump. These pacifiers are very plain, they dont have any weird shape to the nipple and I think that is their main downfall. Both of my sons were big babies and the Avent newborn pacifiers seemed too small for them right from the start. Since they dont have the bubble or larger part on the end of the nipple it seems to fall right out of babys mouth.
Once my first son got to be about 6 months old he didnt seem to mind these and was able to keep it in his mouth better. He mainly wanted a pacifier when he teeth were bothering him so I opted for the pacifiers with the little nubs on them to give his gums more stimulation while he chomped away at it. They are supposed to be great for development of babies teeth and gums and shouldnt cause any problems. They can be sterilized in a microwave sterilizer or placed in hot water to sterilize.
Their pacifiers are really cute and some even have glow in the dark handles and glow in the dark pictures on them. I realized though that we never kept our babys room dark enough to need any sort of glowing pacifier!
One plus is the snap on caps that you can put over the pacifier and use instead of the good ol Ziploc baggie. I, however lost these very quickly and rarely remembered to use them anyway. They are made from silicon to prevent latex allergies in newborns but the older baby pacifiers are made from latex to withstand the heavy use. They say that since the face plate is flat, not curved, that it prevents chafing. That may be true but the pacifiers that I use much more often are curved and dont cause any chafing. It might be because my babies used pacifiers for short periods during the day and werent sucking on them all day long.
Overall I think they are of great quality, look nice and are widely available online and at stores like Babies R Us. They are a little more expensive then other pacifiers. I paid a little over $4 for 2 pacifiers. However my babies enjoyed the pacifiers that were larger (ones made by MAM, The First Years, and Gerber) and the ones that had bumps on them while they were teething.
