Pros:Easy and fun to use.
Cons:none
The Bottom Line: Print your own unique address labels.
When I first started using my inkjet printer many years ago, I purchased many types of printing supplies such as paper, labels and various things to create with my printer. I haven't tried everything I can do with the printer but I have purchased many types of different labels for many years. I did try the smaller address labels which were called "return address labels", I didn't like them since they were smaller so I started purchasing this size. I can print in a larger font and add an image on the left side of the label. I would make my mother labels as she watched me on the computer and ask her which image she liked on her labels. Most times she chose a bird. I also like to make labels for family members when they have moved with their new address. Labels are much better than hand writing them. They are more legible and brighter.
I enjoy creating things to give out or display in my home. I've seen these labels being sold at WalMart in smaller quantities. Since I frequent Staples for many home and office products, I usually purchase larger quantities and like checking printing products available while I'm there. I know that now with Dollar stores, you can purchase an inexpensive card, but I like to have my own words in cards and a picture or photo printed only for those I know will appreciate it and enjoy receiving them. Besides those cheap cards do look cheap and the words are so generic they seem fake to me. With my homemade card, I prefer to use these lables that reflects my creativity and leaving a lasting impression on the receiver.
"Avery Dennison Worldwide Office Products markets products under the well-known Avery brand name and is one of the world's leading manufacturers of self-adhesive labels for laser and ink jet printers, labeling software, binders, sheet protectors, index and tab dividers and other office-, home- and school-related supplies. Avery Dennison Worldwide Office Products, a business unit of Avery Dennison Corporation, is based in Brea, California. For more information about Avery-brand products, consumers can visit the Avery Dennison Worldwide Office Products Web site at www.avery.com or call the Avery Dennison Consumer Service Center at 1-800-GO-AVERY (1-800-462-8379). Creating personalized cards and labels is fun for artistic minds. Others enjoy receiving these. Avery is committed to proving the consumer with quality products and I would not purchase any other. You can go to the website and design and print online using their templates. I've never used their website for this but it's nice they provide this free service. All you need to do is fill in your name and email and it will take you to the page where you select a category of products, the product number or description and follow the steps which seem very easy. On their website, you can order their products. These 8160 labels cost $12.60 for 25 sheets of 30 labels per sheet plus $6.80 for shipping. They also sell larger quantities. I purchased mine at Staples but don't remember what I paid for the box.
Naturally, if you use labels you need a program that will show how to print these 30 labels to each sheet. I use Print Shop card creator that has that function. I usually first printout one sample before using the labels. When I'm satisfied with the font, size and image on the label sample then I will print them out.
I have purchased pre-made labels that come in a roll from mail order books such as Walter Drake or others but somehow I was never satisfied with the labels. They don't always come out like the samples they show you. They look much smaller in print that's why I decided to do my own.
If you have a card creator program you can get many images to reflect your personality with a logo, photo or design of your choice. I like to change according to the season or holidays and choose an image or style. When using my own labels, the recipient knows I've created them. This is fun for me and convenient. It's also nice to print a monogram on the labels
These labels have the word "Avery" printed on the back in red so that you can easily tell it will print on the opposite side. For my printer, I face the back side up but each printer may work differently.
Conclusion
I recommend these address labels or the smaller return address labels to anyone that enjoys sending personalized labels. Sometimes you get the smaller return labels as a bonus when you purchase these 1" x 2 5/8" labels so you can test them out. The smaller ones can be used for many other things besides address labels.
