In my office, case files are kept in a 3 ring binder until the case is closed. My cases stay open for anywhere from 6 months to 2 or 3 years. While most of the paperwork stays intact, many of the hole-punched sheets get torn; especially the top sheets. I use Avery Reinforcement Labels to keep the papers in place.

Price and Packaging

Avery Reinforcement Labels come in a yellow box about 3 X 3” with red trim. The labels are attached to a tape that is pulled out of the side of the box. The labels pop out of the top right corner of the box as the tape is pulled down. The box contains 200 white labels. The labels can be purchased at any office supply store or ordered online. We get the labels for a little more than $2 a box in my office.

Usage

I remember using the labels in school to keep school work bound into a binder when it would come loose. Back then I think we just called them circle holes. They came on long sheets and you could just peel off the sticker. I don’t know if they still sell the sheets of labels. I haven’t seen them around in years. The Avery box is much handier. There’s no trying to peel a sticker off of a sheet, which usually led to peeling the backing or part of the sheet off as well. Just pull the end of the tape and the circle reinforcements pop right out. Just use care not to pull too fast, or the stickers will bunch up, stick together, and be useless.

Overall

I would have to say, overall, that the Avery Reinforcement Labels are a handy thing to have around. I don’t have a tremendous amount of loose papers to use the circular labels on, but I always like having them around when I do need them. A box of 200 labels lasts me about a year in the office. I try to keep some at home for the kids as well since they’re always tearing their papers out of their binders. I would highly recommend this economical, handy office supply.
