Pros: In Mexico Aviacsa provides coach service comparable to US First Class service.
Cons: Electronic tickets in Mexico are not reliable as they are in USA. Go paper.
The Bottom Line: I hate flying but I fly often. The Aviacsa flight crew gave me great confidence in their ability to fly me safely to Oaxaca.

| urraca's Full Review: Aviacsa |
I was looking for good deals on travel to Oaxaca and Morelia, Mexico in October 2003. I found Aviacsa on Lowest Fares website. I had never heard of Aviacsa and was hesitant to fly with an unknown carrier. After reading the single review in Epinions, I went online at home (U.S.A.) and bought my ticket from Mexico City to Oaxaca. The service was excellent. The plane looked new and was sparkling clean. The crew was as professional as I have ever seen, crisp, more formal than US crews but still friendly (muy amable) and helpful. While AmeriWest from Phoenix to Mexico City gave us soft drinks and two micro bags of nuts, (and not even nuts from Mexico City to Phoenix), Aviacsa gave passengers complimentary drinks (alcohol included) and snacks on the evening flight and continental breakfast on the morning flight. For an unknown reason I could not buy my return ticket online, but it was not a problem. Aviacsa had several ticket offices conveniently located in Oaxaca where the staff spoke English and printed my ticket in English. Seats were readily available. My tickets were about $40 cheaper, each way, than the major Mexican airline serving Oaxaca. International coach service tends to be better than domestic coach service. Aviacsa coach provided service close to first class U.S. domestic service.
The only negative thing was that I could not buy a ticket online directly from Aviacsa. I had to purchase it through Lowest Fare. Lowest Fare told me an electronic ticket was not possible, only paper and it had to be delivered overnight because of my travel schedule, costing me an extra $25. Electronic tickets dont work smoothly in Mexico, so it is just as well. The overnight charge can be avoided by better planning. Lowest Fare inexplicably could not provide me with a return ticket from Oaxaca to Mexico City.
If you travel in Mexico more than once, check out Aviacsa Frequent Flyer program. I will book Aviacsa every chance I get.
