The timing couldn't have been better. Just a few weeks earlier I noticed an annoying furrow between my eyebrows, not to mention some "deep expression lines" on my forehead. Then, as if reading my mind, Avon started advertising a new product from their Anew Clinical line: Deep Crease Concentrate with Bo-Hylurox.
This anti-aging treatment, which they tout as an alternative to injections, promises to "visibly reduce the overall length, depth and number of deep expression lines" on forehead and elsewhere on your face. It sounded too good to be true, but since I'm a sucker who likes to try the latest beauty products, I put aside my reservations and ordered a bottle.
About the Product
Deep Crease Concentrate comes in glass bottle with 1 fluid ounce of serum (30 mL) and a dropper style applicator. The product itself is pumpkin orange and has a somewhat fruity scent. The consistency, unlike some serums I have used, is actually runny.
The key ingredients making up Bo-Hylurox (patent pending) include:
~Portulaca plant extract~ helps with lines and wrinkles
~Hyaluronic Acid~ helps fill lines (as taken from box)
On their web site Avon claims that you will instantly see a reduction in crow's feet and frown lines. Within one week deeps lines and wrinkles around forehead and eyes will "diminish in appearance."
Of course, I was very eager to see if these claims really held true. While I was pleased with a product from The Body Shop that I was using for my eye area, I was in desperate need of something to tackle those deep expression lines on my forehead (didn't we use to call those frown lines?).
Pricing and Purchasing Information
I purchased Deep Crease Concentrate online from www.avon.com. Regular price is $32, but I was able to find a 20% off coupon that brought the price down to $25.60. Considering that I only need to use a few drops a day, this product should last me at least 6 months.

My Experiences
Using Deep Crease Concentrate proved to be a little bit annoying at first. Although I do like the dropper, Deep Crease Concentrate is runnier than I would like. I have learned to control the dropper and not apply too much, otherwise it will run down my face. I also have to be careful not to waste any of it by getting too much in the dropper and letting it drip in the sink or my bathrobe.
The light fruity scent is pleasing, which is good, because the color of the serum, is frankly, not too pretty to look at. To me it looks like runny pumpkin pie.
After gently applying the Deep Crease Concentrate, I feel the skin across my forehead and between my eyes gently tighten. After it dried and absorbed fully into my skin (about 2 minutes) I applied my regular moisturizer.
Avon suggests using Deep Crease Concentrate twice a day in the areas that need it, such as forehead, eye area, and mouth area.
After I finish applying my makeup, I do notice that the lines on my forehead are somewhat diminished. That's good news. However, that furrow between my eyes is still there, as big as ever. So it doesn't appear that Deep Crease Concentrate helps with that much.
Now, what about long term results? Well, I have been using Deep Crease Concentrate just about a month and quite frankly I haven't seen a major permanent change. It does definitely plump the deep expression lines on my forehead on a temporary basis, but I don't see how this product can claim to do the same job as injections. Fortunately I'm not at a point where I think I really need injections yet.
Final Thoughts and Recommendation
Deep Crease Concentrate is an average product. I have seen better and I certainly have seen worse. It does deliver on its promise to provide some temporary plumping and reduction in appearance of some lines (but not all). It has not provided me with any long lasting reduction of such lines.
The consistency of the concentrate is not the best, being too runny and too easy to waste. I would prefer a more gel-like consistency.
Likewise, I'm not a big fan of the color. OK, maybe I'm picky but I feel a little strange apply a pumpkin pie colored product to my face.
However, I will give this 3 stars out of 5 and a YES recommendation. It does provide some nice short term benefits and is a reasonably priced alternative to department store brands.
