| 42ENGLISH's Full Review: Avon Advance Techniques Hydrating Conditioner |
Recently, I inadvertently ran out of my regular shampoo and conditioner thanks to my daughters trips to my bathroom to borrow my bath and shower products, among others. However, I have an assortment of shampoos and conditioners stored in my cabinet for such occasions which happen fairly often when you have a teenaged girl in the house.
After digging through my cabinet I chose Avons Advanced Techniques Hydrating Conditioner to be used after shampooing with Avon Advanced Techniques Hydrating Shampoo. This product was given to me about a year ago by my friend who used to be an Avon rep. I hadnt been keen on Avon Hair care products in the past but figured it would be okay for back up.
Ingredients:
Water, glycerin, cetyl alcohol, propyleneglycol, stearalkonium chloride, glyceryl stearate, glycol stearate, peg-100 stearate, fragrance, phenoxyethanol, methylparaben, canola oil, panthenol, hydrolyzed wheat protein, disodium edta, wheat amino acids, phytantriol, wheat oligosacharides, methylchloroisothiazolinone (and/et), methylisothiazolinone
This product comes in a plastic, gold 11fl oz bottle with a flip-top cap that does not screw off. The conditioner itself is creamy white and thick and has a fresh, clean citrucy scent.
Avon's Claim:
Created with an exclusive vitamin and protein-enriched Balancing B2 Complex to seal in moisture and rejuvenate dry hair to make it silkier and softer. The unique weather-responsive formula gently conditions and rebalances hair, adjusting its moisture level. The result is beautiful hair so balanced, youre always in control.
My Experience:
After shampooing with this products counterpart, I applied about a quarter-size of this thick, creamy conditioner and worked it into my hair leaving more on the tips as they are a bit dryer than the rest of my hair. This conditioner really smells fresh and clean and its scent lingers on the hair. After leaving it in my hair for the duration of my shower (about ten minutes), I rinsed it out.
It left my hair feeling silky when wet but I could also feel that familiar slick film called build-up on my hair that just was not rinsing out. When dry, my hair was shiny but it did not have its normal bounce as it was weighed down by this products build up. It was also a bit difficult to style because of it too.
This product also claims to be weather responsive. I dont buy this sales pitch.
Conclusion:
I thought that Avon's Advanced Techniques Hydrating Conditioner was going to be a good one. It smells great and has a thick, creamy consistency that indicates deep conditioning. However, the build-up it leaves behind weighs the hair down and makes it less manageable. I am not sure if this product has been discontinued but for me its not worth the three dollar price tag.
I wouldnt recommend this product as an effective conditioner because of this.
