moonsista's Full Review: Avon Anew CLEANSE Daily Resurfacing Cleanser
A couple of months ago, I was browsing online, looking for a new cleanser that would actually help to resurface my skin while cleansing it well. I didn't like the texture and unevenness of my skin and wanted something that was going to help smooth it out some so that I didn't have to get a professional resurfacing treatment done (I was considering a professional peel or similar treatment). I saw several glowing reviews online that stated that Avon Anew Cleanse Daily Resurfacing Cleanser was the best cleanser the reviewer had ever used. I was skeptical, but ordered this cleanser from Avon.com. I'm glad I did, because I really like this cleanser, but since I ordered it, it has been discontinued.

Avon products are hit or miss for me, and I end up liking probably 50% of what I try, and might absolutely love 10% of what I try. I didn't know where the Anew Cleanse Daily Resurfacing Cleanser would fall on that scale. Now that I've used it for probably two months, I would have to say that I really like it. It doesn't quite live up to its very lofty claims, but it does perform well and if it were still around, I would purchase it again.
The pump dispenser on the bottle this cleanser comes in is one of those short, stout pumps that doesn't go down much when it is pressed. It might go down about 1/4". It doesn't dispense much of the cleanser at all. It took me just a couple of uses to figure out that it doesn't need to dispense a lot, because a little goes a very long way. Each pump dispenses a small dot of cleanser (not even an amount the size of a pea), so if you press the pump down three times, the three dots are enough to cleanse your face. The cleanser itself is thick and is pearly white in color with a purple iridescence. The scent is a standard "skin cleanser" scent, sort of a mixture of soapy notes and perfumey notes. It's a bit of a strong scent, but isn't one that is so overwhelming that you will not be able to use this cleanser.
Avon Anew Cleanse Daily Resurfacing Cleanser is not a high-foaming cleanser, but it does foam enough to make you feel like you are getting your face clean. We all learned a long time ago that lather is not necessary to cleanse, but if you are like me, you want your facial cleanser to lather a bit so that you feel like you are removing the makeup, dirt and oil that need to come off at least once or twice daily.
The way that I use this cleanser is to first wet my face, then pump a bit of the cleanser onto a washcloth, then massage it on my face in a circular motion. It removes most of my makeup, but doesn't do a thorough job of removing eyeliner and mascara, so I always have to remove the excess with makeup remover. This is no big deal, as I have had to do this with pretty much every other cleanser I've ever used anyway. Avon Anew Cleanse Daily Resurfacing Cleanser removes dirt and oil nicely without stripping my skin. It rinses away cleanly and doesn't leave a residue on my skin at all. My face doesn't feel super moisturized, but it also doesn't feel tight and dry. I am always careful not to rinse my face with water that is too hot, as I think that contributes greatly to drying out the facial skin.
The results I've received from this cleanser have been favorable. My pores, which tend to get junk built up in them quickly (I don't know how I don't get zits - I feel like my pores are always clogged up with makeup and dead skin cells - so I've been lucky not to get a bunch of zits!), seem to be cleaner. I don't know that my pores appear smaller, but they were never that big to begin with. But since I've been using this cleanser, they aren't bigger and thankfully they've been less clogged. I think that this cleanser does help to resurface the skin a bit. I didn't see results in three days as Avon claimed I would. It took a couple of weeks for me to see that my skin was more smooth and even. It's not dramatically smoother and more even, but my skin looks better and that's good enough for me for right now.
I don't have a lot of fine lines and wrinkles (thank you, heredity) but I do have a few fine lines under my eyes and I really don't think that Avon Anew Cleanse Daily Resurfacing Cleanser has done a lot for these fine lines. They aren't a big deal and I don't worry about them much, so this isn't a big deal to me. I would say, though, that the lines haven't gotten worse and they might even look a little better and I just haven't noticed.
Overall, this is a great cleanser. I don't know if I would have paid Avon's full price of $15, but for the $9.99 I paid, I think it was a good deal. I would purchase this cleanser if it were still around, but would not pay full price. I like how Avon Anew Cleanse Daily Resurfacing Cleanser performs and that it doesn't dry out my skin. I'll finish the bottle of this cleanser and them move on to another cleanser since this one is discontinued. But if you can find it and if you are in your 30's or 40's and don't have a lot of damage to correct, I would recommend asking your Avon representative to see if she can still get it for you.
