Pros: Creme to powder blush contains no talc.
Cons: Difficult to apply
The Bottom Line: Creme-to-powder blush is difficult to apply, but for those allergic to talc there are not many choices. Avon HydraFinish Cheek color is one of the choices.

Blush has got to be the most difficult cosmetic to apply correctly no matter what form it comes in. You probably new a lot of ladies growing up who walked around with rosy stripes on the sides of their faces or worse--round spots. I can remember being told constantly by my mother at the age of 16 that "blending is very important."
Avon Hydrafinish Blush is a creme to powder product. Creme to powder products are also sold in foundation lines. The value is that you get a really nice matte finish. The challenge is getting it blended before it gets that nice matte finish that doesn't move around very easily. Be prepared to use it sparingly and to wash your face and start over if you mess it up and it looks funny. No one wants to look embarrassed wearing blush.
Avon Hydrafinish Blush comes in a compact with a screw on cap that has a mirror. Inside you find a blush color from the nine available colors and a shimmery creme that you can apply over the blush or elsewhere. The colors are classified as warm, neutral, and cool, which correspond to seasonal color pallets. Talk to a consultant if you are not sure what color to buy--they have color swatches that are more accurate than the presentation in the catalog or online. They also have samples. There is no applicator provided. Basic foam beauty sponges are a good applicator, but if you don't have them on hand you need to make a trip to the drugstore. Brushes will not apply this product. The compact must be kept closed to prevent the product from drying out, so don't leave this one open. The mirror is like many compact mirrors--too small to be of much use.
To apply the blush, I have found that I rub my beauty sponge just enough to color it and start application very lightly just below my cheekbone with sweeping motions toward my mouth. I reduce pressure as I get away from the hairline. As soon as I can see the color, I start blending it with a clean area of the sponge. With blush, it doesn't take a lot and when it is hard to blend you really have to pay attention. The shimmer creme is a nice way to add highlight. I have applied this over eyeshadow and over my blush using a beauty sponge.
I purchased this product because it contains no talc. Talc is a powdery substance that is used in cosmetics to absorb moisture and oil. While not common, some people are allergic to talc. As a pervasive beauty product base and additive, blush is difficult to find without talc unless you want to use rouge (even more difficult to apply and blend). If you are allergic to talc or just like creme-to-powder products, you may well like Avon PerfectWear Blush. If you are not allergic to talc, save the time and wear a powder blush.
I don't wear blush frequently anymore. After being told to blend, blend, and blend some more growing up, I have a perfectionistic attitude about making it look just so and I don't have the time to do that with this product before running my kids to the park. When I want to look really nice, I take the time and am very happy with the results with no allergic breakouts afterward.
Avon products can be purchased through local consultant or through on-line shopping at www.avon.com. Avon does offer a 100% money back guarantee. (It is easiest to use this guarantee if you purchase through a consultant. Consultants can also get sale prices on products from previous catalogs.) If you don't like the color, make sure you return it and get the right color. Hydrafinish products are undergoing some changes, so this product may not be available anymore. There is still a creme to powder blush, but it comes in a stick form--Split Second Blush Stick. Hydrafinish products are still available in foundation and mascara on the web site.
