Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint.... not exactly a paint.

Pros:nice scent, easy to use, fun for the kid, good price
Cons:fails as a body paint
The Bottom Line: If this product hadn't failed as body paint, I'd have given it 4 stars easily. But since it is "just" a body cleanser, it's rather average.
My 5 year old seems to enjoy trying new bath products just as much as I do so when I saw that Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint was only $1.99 I added it to my shopping cart many months ago during an Avon.com shopping experience.

What is it? What's it supposed to do? What's in it?
Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint is available in three scents. There's a pink bottle, which is scented like bubble gum; a blue which smells like coconut and then there's the one we own, a green that has a yummy sour apple scent. Each one comes in a 1.7 fl. oz. container which looks exactly like a roll-on deodorant. This product is recommended by Avon for ages 3 and up. If you wish to purchase this product, talk to your Avon representative, or visit Avon.com.
Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint is supposed to be a soap that is also a body paint making bathing and getting clean lots of fun.

What's it really like? What does the kid and his mom think?
From the photo Avon has of this product on their site (which is the same one Epinions has of it) I was thinking this product would roll on as a solid color. That was also what came to mind when I read the words 'body paint'. That, however, is not exactly what you get with Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint. When my son first went to use his Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint in Green Apple he kept rolling it back and forth over his skin and all that happened was he had a barely there streak of a super light green color. Ok, I thought maybe it just needed to get going so I tried it out myself. Nope, that was as good as it was going to get. This product does not roll out a nice thick green streak. At best, we get a very uneven line with a few small (very small) globs of product here and there (thus making it look like a slightly tinged green line that is very uneven with a few opaque spots very sporadically put). As a body paint, this product is lacking. Big time.
Although we were disappointed (ok, I was disappointed, my child didn't seem to know better or care) that Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint wasn't exactly a body paint my son went on to use his Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint in Apple and he greatly enjoyed it. There was no slippery soap to work with, the roll on makes it very easy for young children to apply the cleanser themselves. Once applied the child is supposed to rub the product around (like soap). My son doesn't like to do this as it doesn't lather up or foam like normal soaps do. Rubbing the product around only makes the slight green shade disappear. In reality I know rubbing it around is helping to clean all areas, so it does need to be done if this product is going to be used as a bath time cleanser.
The scent is very nice. As I stated, we have the Green/Apple and it is a true sour apple scent. Not overly sour, but definitely not sweet. The scent fades to one that is much lighter on the skin to the point where it simply smells like a very light apple scent (not sour in the least). After a few hours the scent fades completely away.
It's been around 7 months now since I purchased our Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint and there is still some left. Granted, my son has not used this product in every bath he's had over the last 7 months, but he has used it fairly often. Thus, I feel the asking price of $1.99 is plenty reasonable. You do get your money's worth as far as this being a fun and easy to use body cleanser for kids.
- easy to use
- fun for kids
- works nicely as a body cleanser
- not pricey
- pretty much fails as a body paint
While this is a fun addition to the bath, it isn't nearly as cool as I'd though it would be. Since we didn't find it to really work as a body paint, I don't recommend it at all if that's what you're looking for. However, I do think this product makes for a nice, fun and easy to use body cleanser so if you're looking for something like that I'd recommend Avon Kids Bath & Body Bath Time Body Paint to you. That said, I don't think I'll purchase this product again as there are a ton of fun bath products on the market for kids and I'm sure we'll choose something else next time.
Thanks for reading!
