I love soft, gentle smells. The light, more natural smells like lilac, rose, vanilla and others similar really make me feel tranquil. This lotion was purchased due to the scent- vanilla. I wasnt sure if it was going to help my skin a little or a lot. But, it originally started out with a small sample size and turned into another bottle purchase. (I love the trial sizes. Avon always has special sales for a 1.5 fl. oz. tubes for as little as .69 cents in some of their catalogues. Even if you totally hate it, you havent spent a fortune to find out!) I think that is the way to go! Try it and if you like it, but a real size bottle!

This lotion reminded me of the Vita Moist lotion when I first started using it. It was the consistency that made me feel that way. The lotion is a nice, thick lotion that rubs into your skin quickly. It seems to soak in quickly into the skin. At least, with my skin it does. My skin is so dry it just laps up most moisturizers quickly!
The lotion is white and does not have any tinting in it like other lotions (light green, yellow, etc.) When you first get it out of the tube, it instantly gives off a light and gentle smell of vanilla. When you rub it into your skin, the body heat and rubbing gives off more of a vanilla scent that just envelopes you in a warm hug. It kind of reminds me of baking at home during the holidays when you have all of the wonderful sugar cookies baking in the oven and the smell permeates the house making you feel serene and relaxed.
The lotion doesnt take a long time to rub into the skin and when you are finished, you do not have the greasy or oily feeling left on your hands. You can still see a bit of a finger print left on items you touch if you really push your finger down on a surface. But, you can do that with just your natural body oils as well.
Avon advises on their bottles, and I have not noticed it recently, that they do NO animal testing!
Reading Avons website, it advises that the lotion is infused with natural plant extracts and gets added boost from apricot kernel oil which is known to nourish all skin types. This is why it is in the Naturals product line.
This information was taken from their website directly, so that you are able to see the ingredients in the Avon Naturals Vanilla Body Lotion:
Water, ethylhexyl palmitate, cetearly alcohol, petrolatum, prunus armeniaca (apricot) kernel oil, isopropyl palmitate, fragrance, oryza sativa (rice) starch, hydrolyzed milk protein, tocopherol, vanilla planifolia fruit extract, glycine soja (soybean) seed extract, melia azadirachta seed extract, vitis vinifera (grape) seed extract), glyceryl stearate, peg-40 hydrogenated castor oil, sodium cetearyl sulfate, carbomer, triethanolamine, dimethicone, trimethylsiloxysilicate, disodiumedta, imidazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, orange 4, yellow 10, blue 1
This lotion does a great job on my skin! I like that it moisturizes my skin after one application, lasts all day long and doesnt require that I re-apply frequently like other lotions have in the past. The thicker consistency of the lotion, I think, makes it apply easier, and I use less of it due to the thickness. I have found runnier lotions in the past I have to use a lot of and they get used up quickly. That is not the case with this lotion at all.
I love the smell most of all. The scent is light and gentle. It is delicate and reminds me of baking cookies or even a light vanilla musk that I remember from a long time ago. I cannot recall the name of it, but I used to love that musk when I was in high school. The scent lingers gently through the day, but fades after about 4 or 5 hours. But, for a lotion, that is a long time, which proves to me that the lotion is protecting my body for a very long time.
If you like gentle, wonderful scents like vanilla, and you have dry skin and are looking for a lotion to soften your skin, smell nice while doing it and not be greasy, you should give this lotion a shot. You can try a small sample size to see if you like it, as I did. But, you have to find an Avon representative or purchase the items through www.avon.com, as they are not in stores. We actually do have an Avon store in a mall in my area, but I do not know how many store fronts Avon does have and where they are located. I am sure you could find more information on that from the website as well!
