Pros:Effective insect repellent, smells great, inexpensive, long-lasting, moisturizes.
Cons:Can be oily if not massaged well into skin, some may not like the scent.
The Bottom Line: I love Avon Skin So Soft and have been using it for about 20 years to ease razor burn, moisturize my skin, and keep skeeters away.
I have long been a user of Avon products as my mom was always a fan of their products so I grew up using them. Our neighbor was a power seller of Avon for many years and kept the whole 'hood well-stocked with lotions, make-up and gifts. She even had me selling Avon when I was in high school to make some extra money and it was during a monthly Avon membership meeting that someone handed me a typewritten (yes, typewritten. It was a looooong time ago) paper detailing the many uses Avon Skin So Soft. I had never tried that product but having read the sheet I was anxious to try it.

Avon Skin So Soft is available in a 5 ounce spray bottle for $6 and in 16.9 and 24 ounce bottles without the sprayer for $12.50 and $16. I highly recommend the smaller spray bottle as it's easy to travel with and you can refill it with contents from the larger bottle later.
What Avon.com has to say about Avon Skin So Soft:
It's America's favorite bath oil, and sure to be yours, too! Skin-So-Soft Bath Oil, in a generous 24 oz. size, turns a relaxing bath into a skin-softening pleasure. This unique formula caresses you with all-over moisturizing plus a touch of our Original Woodland Fresh fragrance.
GLAMOUR magazine says:
"This bath oil smells wonderful, and after adding a tablespoon to my bath, I was instantly relaxed. The light oil left my skin feeling ultra soft and velvety smooth. Best of all, it locks in much-needed moisture, so bath after bath, my skin stays nourished and looking healthy."
As mentioned above, I've been using Avon Skin So Soft for many years. The first thing that drew me to it is the moisturizing aspect. I've always gotten bad razor burn and dry skin from shaving so I thought it would be good to spray on my legs after shaving to cut down on irritation. That worked well for me and I continue to use it 20 years later. For moisturizing, I spray a little bit lightly on my body while it's still a little damp and massage it in well so it's not oily. It moisturizes well all day long and adds a nice sheen to the leg when wearing shorts or skirts.
The situation where I most often use Avon Skin So Soft is as an insect repellent. I live in Michigan where the state bird is the mosquito. We are plagued by mosquitoes from early summer to fall, even during the day. I'll never forget the day when my husband and I attended his college reunion picnic in the woods of northern Michigan. Everyone was choking and hacking while they sprayed OFF all over themselves when the skeetos started to bite but I had applied Avon Skin So Soft before leaving for the picnic and the bugs didn't bother me all day or night. After that night my husband became sold on Avon Skin So Soft as a mosquito repellent and still uses it to this day. For use as a mosquito repellent I spray it onto exposed areas and massage it in lightly. I like the fact that I don't have gobs of chemicals on my body and I can go home and jump into my bed and not feel that I've covered my sheets in bad things.
I have never had any adverse reaction to using Avon Skin So Soft. It always keeps me moisturized, bug free, and smelling nice all day and night. I once used it as a bath oil which worked nicely but I hated having to scrub my slippery tub afterwards so I don't use it in that manner anymore.
I've also used Avon Skin So Soft to remove stickers from things. When we bought our house there were lots of stickers on the windows and appliances that left that sticky residue when the sticker was removed. That's IF I could remove the sticker. In some cases I couldn't even peel them off so I simply doused them with a few spritzes of Avon Skin So Soft and they peel right off.
I find the scent of Avon Skin So Soft to be very pleasant. It's an herbal, powdery type scent that I love but others do not like it at all.
The many otheruses for Avon Skin So Soft are as follows:
Can be used to remove makeup.
A hot oil treatment to soften nails.
A good massage oil for those overworked, sore muscles.
A good insect repellant for people and their pets (good for fleas also).
Helps relieve itching created by insect bites and dry skin.
Sponge it on screen and around doors, windows to keep crawling bugs, as well as flies and mosquitoes out.
A good wood cleaner, conditioner and polish for natural wood.
Removes chewing gum from hair, skin and most non-porous surfaces.
Removes glue and gum left from price tags and labels from glass, metal and most plastics.
Cleans tape marks left by bandages from skin.
Cleans ink from skin and most vinyl and painted surfaces.
Gently cleans HEAVY grease and oil from skin and non-porous surfaces (great for mechanics' hands).
Removes soap scum from shower doors, shower curtains, windows and bathroom and kitchen fixtures.
Remove lime and hard water deposits from windows, fixtures, shower doors and tile.
Removes tar spots from car finishes without damaging paint finish.
An oil lubricant for fitting pipe joints that won't slip together as easily as they used to.
Cleans paint brushes easily, and leaves them as soft as new.
Removes paint and stain from skin -- much gentler than turpentine.
Removes gum from carpet.
Cuts grease and dirt from range hoods.
Removes candle wax from furniture, carpeting and clothing.
Removes scuff marks from patent leather shoes.
Removes Liquid Nails.
Two glass bowls or glasses stuck together? Drizzle a little SSS down sides and they'll come apart easily -- no breakage.
Removes "ring around the collar."
Wipe down vinyl surfaces inside your car. Cleans these nicely and leaves car fresh smelling.
