I have been wearing Avon off and on for many years. My mom sold Avon when I was very young. She did not work outside of the home, so she enjoyed do it. I even tried my hand at it for a little while right after high school. It was a great job to have while going to college. I eventually stopped selling it after I started a full-time job. I just sold to friend's and relatives, but I know some people who really make a killing at it.
I love buying eyeshadows, but I have never been a big fan of Avon's eyeshadows. They just did not hold up real well. I have stated before that I do not like to re-apply my makeup during the day. I apply my makeup at 8:00 and that is what stays with me all day. I, of course, re-apply it if I am going out at night, but not during the work day. All of that has changed though.
Avon took most of their makeup off of the market for a few campaigns. They came out with a whole new line of makeup. I was able to sample a few eyeshadow colors from my representative. She had the pleasure of trying the new line in Las Vegas. She swore that it held up in the 115 degree heat. Since, I live in Texas, I am always looking for something that will last in the heat. I could not wait to order some for myself. I had to wait about a month before I could do it.
I know that the campaigns vary from place to place. I have only been able to order the duos, however I know in the next campaign the singles are available. In the past, when I ordered eyeshadows from Avon, I ordered the quads. I have no idea when these will be available. I like to use the different colors to highlight and contour.
I could not wait to try them out, so I ordered two different ones. My favorite was the Forest. The colors in it are: Fern, which a light green with a hint of gold and Moss, which is a darker green. They are both frosts and compliment each other beautifully. I wear it along with a forest green eyeliner and black mascara. This really makes my eyes stand out!
The other one that I ordered was the Classic Neutral-Medium. The colors in this are: Nude, which is a light beige and Bark, which is alight brown. They are nice, but don't seem to do anything for my eyes. The Nude is supposed to be a frost, but is very subtle and the Bark is a matte. I have dark brown eyes, so some colors just don't show up real well. I do wear a lot of beiges, browns and even some whites, but these colors just don't do the trick! I will probably continue to wear them, but not with each other and try to play my eyes up in some other way!
I have been really pleased with the results of these new shadows. I have found that they do not crease, smudge, or wear off. In the past, the Avon shadows would wear out halfway thru the day. They have really changed their whole formula. It is a very fine powder that goes on very smooth. I already have several more duos picked out for next order(along with some singles). I can not wait to build up a collection of these great new products!
They have about 15 different duos. They are all coordinated to go along with a color scheme. You can look under beiges/browns, corals/reds, pales/sheers, mauves/berries and pinks/roses. You can then find matching shadows, liners, lipsticks, blushes, several formulas of lipsticks, and nail polishes. It makes it really nice and easy to shop.
They are also very reasonably priced. I ordered them at an introductory price of $2.99. I found this to be a great deal for 2 eyeshadows. They are a great size at: .10oz. total net weight. I know that they have gone up to their regular price, which is $4.25. This is still not bad. I am sure that Avon will run them on sale again. They are good about doing frequent sales.
The one and only complaint that I have about these is; the compact does not include a mirror. I know that this is very petty, but I like to be able apply it without finding a mirror if needed. In the past the quads included mirrors, so maybe when they come out with these, they will have a mirror. The rest of the compact is great though. It is navy blue and is small and convenient for your makeup bag or purse.
They also have new blushes and lipsticks, which I have not yet tried. I plan to put these on my next order as well. I will then review these after I try them. I am sure that I will like them just as well.
