Just another average attempt at a long lasting lipstick

Pros:inexpensive, feels good on lips

Cons:dark shades, weird tube, nothing special

I am all for trying new lipsticks. I can't seem to get enough
of all the different brands and shades that are out on the
market now. I have boxes and drawers full of lipsticks but
I can't seem to help myself when I see a new product. Sure,
I am addicted to color for my lips, but that's better than
being addicted to some other things. I have my favorite
lipsticks that I use daily, but I always like to try
new brands, especially when they are on sale.

I regularly order from Avon each month and had never tried
out their Avon Ultra Color Rich Renewable Lipstick
until recently. For $5, it was hard to resist. But what exactly
did 'renewable' mean? You keep applying it so it's renewed?
I was confused. There were so many gorgeous colors to chose
from, but I decided on 2 shades that I thought would look
good on my fair skin and light colored hair.

The first think I noticed about Avon Ultra Color Rich
Renewable Lipstick
is the unique shape of the tube. It
seems a bit bulky compared to other lipsticks, but it looked
kind of cool with its odd shape. It will not fit in my many
lipstick cases, so it will float around in my purse for now.
I chose the shades Iced Mocha and Cozy Mauve. Both looked
good in the Avon catalog, but I forgot one thing. With
Avon, it seems that the colors I order always end up being
much darker than how they appeared on the page. You think
I would have learned that by now. Iced Mocha is way too
dark for me. It is almost a deep brown with a shimmery finish.
The Cozy Mauve is a bit better, but still too deep on
my lips. I decided to try them out anyway since I had
them and it is a pain to return them. I just apply a light
coat and then add a lipgloss to settle the color a bit.

The Avon Ultra Color Rich Renewable Lipstick does feel
great when applied. It doesn't go on perfectly smooth, but it
comes close. It looks dry when you look at the stick, but it
goes on your lips much more creamy than it appears. It is
very 'color rich' and you don't need a heavy application with
this product. One sweep across your lips and the color is set.
With this lipstick, there are satin, sheer, and matte finishes.
I have not tried the matte finish, but feel this would be very
drying. The satin and sheer finishes seem moist and wearable.
Yet with the satin finishes, I found that as it wears off, it
leaves uneven colored splotches on my lips. It may be my dry
lips talking, but other lipsticks don't cause this.

Some other shades of the Avon Ultra Color Rich Renewable
include: the mauves/berries (pretty, smooth wine,
matte berry, berry charm, rouge fatal, instant mocha, wineberry,
sheer antique plum, etc), pinks/roses (chic, rose suede, viva
pink, wink, matte pink, sheer lily, rose legend, etc), beiges/
browns (mocha, mocha creme, matte twig, rustic, iced cocoa,
sienna, earthen brown, etc), corals/reds (nectar, sheer cherry,
red, auburn, blossom, etc), pales/sheers (pout, suede, mocha
ice, cool peach, sheer haze, etc). Many gorgeous colors to
choose from. I just need to go and order some lighter shades
now. I feel it's a quality lipstick that deserves another
chance (but I'll wait till it goes on sale..it isn't worth
$6.50). This product is just another (below) average attempt
at a long lasting lipstick.

For more information you can talk with your Avon representitive
or visit www.Avon.com. The Avon Ultra Color Rich Renewable
usually is around $6.50, but you can find it on
sale in certain Avon catalogs. It is worth a try.
