Best Light Tennis Racquet On The Market

Written: Jul 9, 2011 (Updated Aug 1, 2011)
Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:How light it is.
How easy it is to create spin.
Cons:It cant hit great aggressive baseline shots.
The Bottom Line: This would be a must try for a 10 year old to a 13 year old serious tennis player.

Me as a player:I play tennis between two and five time a week. I am a very scrappy player and always try to go get the ball.

About The racket: This racket is 9.7 ounces one of lightest out there. A typical racket will range from 9.7 oz to 11.3 oz for this age group. The racket is made 100% of graphite. The handle is 23mm (note: this is a tad bit smaller than other babolat's). For the people who like a flexible stick the stiffness is only 68.

General: This racket isn't necessarily made for a eleven to thirteen year old, adults use this racket too. It's just more common for that age group. So when ever i can i try to use a lot of slice on the ball which is easily possible with this racket. When trying to hit hard ground strokes with this racket it has less than average power and shots like to come short and usually hit the service line not the baseline. To offset this you might want to get a power oriented string (look in upgrade section).  This is most likely to be used by an eleven year old to a thirteen year old junior who is looking for a good performance racket. Even though some say the color scene makes it a "girls racket" boys i talked to say they have no problem with the color of the racket. The new version of this has a different color scene that might be more appealing to boys. This is probably top ten of the best junior racquet's out there. I would defiantly recommend this to anyone who is serious about tennis and plays at a fast pace. Babolat the maker of the racket is known for making great junior rackets. Having such a light racket helps getting to balls.

Upgrades: I would buy a vibration dampener to the racket so it's easier to handle. A good dampener would be a Tennis Warehouse dampener that is a modest $0.50. Due to the lack of power a power oriented string would help solve this problem. I would suggest Babolat RPM blast Technifibre Black Code. Also probably want to get them in 18 gauge to maximize as much power as possible. This racket would be perfect for a serve and volley. After all the upgrades probably will cost around $150.00 which is a good usual price for a tennis performance racket. The prices usually very from $149.99 to $200.00. This racket is defiantly worth it and a steal.
