Pros: Awesome sensitivity/range! Excellent false alarm rejection.
Cons: Bright mode could be brighter in daylight sun
The Bottom Line: Excellent Range over 1.4 miles on all bands!

After owning just about every manufacturer of radar detector outside of Valentine One., I have finally found the best detector out there!
I have owned Bel 970, Escort 8500, Uniden Stalker, Cobra 9200 series. None of them even come close! Some false a lot and others just don't give enough warning. I do admit that the Bel 970 and Escort 8500 were excellent detectors (IDENTICAL in performance), But the Bel 985 is even better.
1.)Range I have achieved with this unit has been over 1.4 miles in city enviroment.
2.)Flase alarm rejection is the best I have ever used when used in autoscan mode.
3.)You can customize just about everything on this detector such as X,K,Ka on/off, voice on/off, SWS on/off, and much more..
But don't think I am just talking garbage, checkout the latest results (JUL 02) on Speedzones.com. They test all of the latest detectors with cops using the radar guns just like they would in real world. Plus there are reps from each of the major manufacturers to witness test results. That way the results are not bias like Car and Driver! I defintely recommend the Bel 985, and anyone interested in sharing results of their detector can e-mail me at saddler116@earthlink.net
