nonedude's Full Review: BIC America Wite Out Brand Correction Tape 1 Line ...
BACKGROUND
I've tried multiple name brands of correction tape and multiple types of dispenser shapes. This size and shape by BIC is easily the best.
I research/write property tax reports as a full time job for almost 5 years now. I fax my work at the end of each day. The need for quick corrections to my hand writing and/or correction of pre-typed text is a daily work chore. I can't have penned scratch outs or any confusion when submitting work when a home refinance or purchase is on the line.
PRODUCT USE
Use of this correction tape dispenser is easy. I've never felt discomfort or awkwardness.
This information is on the package, I added some detail
1) Hold dispenser with thumb in groove, logo facing upwards.
2) Position nose, at angle (approx 45 degrees from paper) on area in need of correction.
3) Press down firmly and move dispenser from left to right.
Note to reader: I am left handed and have never had a problem dispensing from right to left, it's not in any way shape or form awkward. This step depends on your dominant hand. Whether you are right or left handed, always keep the logo side facing up, it's the only way.
4) After applying correction tape to necessary area, quickly lift dispenser up and away from paper. Correction tape will break perfectly at the location where applicator tip last touched your paper.
5) Sometimes the edge where correction tape ends will not stick firmly to paper. This is a simple fix, just push down on the edge with your finger tip and all is perfect. This problem typically occurs less than 10% of the time for me.
NOTES
Cost of these dispensers vary. I typically pay $3.50 for one dispenser at a pharmacy if I have to get one quick. Expect to pay $2.79 at a discount store like Wal-mart. Buying the bulk package of 4 dispensers is worthwhile, typically $6.99 (equal to $1.75 per each).
Correction tape applies dry, you can immediately write on it.
The product description above states: "BIC America Wite Out Brand Correction Tape 1 Line White 16" X 400" Dispenser"
Disregard the 16", it should read 1/6th of an inch.
This number denotes the width of the tape. The 400" denotes the length of the entire correction tape roll. 400 inches is equal to 33.3 feet long.
I never have a problem faxing papers which have correction tape on them. The tape does not jam pages and it does not fall off.
I have used this white-out in cold weather, in hot weather, and in damp weather. It always works great with no weather related issues.
Correction tape has a very similar look and feel as Teflon, the stuff used commonly by plumbers when connecting threaded pipes. While the ingredients if you will are not listed on the packaging, I wouldn't be surprised to find out is Teflon tape or some concoction involving Teflon.
CONS EXPLAINED
Very infrequently a twist will occur at applicator tip. This is fixable. You will have to carefully pull the tape out by hand and gently flatten the tape. Next roll the excess you pulled out of the dispenser on a test area to put the tape back into it's natural position so there is no slack.
Tape can get a slight all around yellowing to it with age. This only occurs to tape which has already been dispensed on a piece of paper.
Example: 4 months ago you used the tape on a document, if you look at that document today it will have a yellowed look where the correction tape was applied. This only applies if you left that page out unprotected. A page which was stored in a file will take much longer to yellow. A page which is stored in plastic should not yellow. This is common to all correction tapes comparable to this one.
