| gwenelle7's Full Review: Bodycoffee Javabalm Vanillamint Lip Balm SPF 15 .1... |
Lip balm is essential year-round, but the same old stuff gets boring after a while. When shopping online recently, I spotted Javabalm and decided to give it a try. I wanted something new, something natural, and something with sun protection. Javabalm goes a bit beyond the norm in lip protection with an SPF-enhanced balm that moisturizes while adding a unique flavor and a hint of shine.
Javabalm from BodyCoffee (www.bodycoffee.com) is formulated with SPF 15, olive oil, beeswax, coffee extract, hemp seed oil, vitamin E, peppermint oil, comfrey leaf extract, calendula flower extract, and St. John's Wort ... isn't it nice to find a product in which you can actually pronounce and identify all the ingredients?
Such components are, obviously, intended to moisturize, soothe and protect the lips. And I am writing to tell you that it works. No, Javabalm isn't a some kind of miracle chapstick, but it is exactly what it claims to be--a conditioning, healing, protective lip balm. It lasts for hours, too.
Mmmm, and the scent/flavor is more than tolerable. I love anything vanilla, enjoy coffee, and I'm not adverse to mint, so Javabalm Vanilla Mint seemed to be a tasty combination. However, I'd prefer much more vanilla and a little less mint. An initial whiff or lick blends all three olfactory elements, but the aftertaste is distinctively minty with only a hint of coffee and the vanilla is absent from both the smell or taste after 5 minutes max. Sad.
But the glossy finish more than makes up for my flavor disappointment. Most lip balms, if they offer shine in addition to moisture, leave a waxy or greasy build-up behind. Not so with Javabalm. It adds a soft, subtle sheen ... just enough to shimmer in the light but not the bright, wet gleam of a traditional clear gloss.
All in all, Javabalm Vanilla Mint is wonderful for a woman who wants a moisturizing lip balm with a hint of shine and a yummy flavor. But can somebody contact the creators and beg them to add vanilla extract to the ingredient list? Please!!
