| my2girls's Full Review: Baby Bath Ring |
There comes a time when your baby gets to be too big to bathe in an infant tub, yet still seems too small to bathe in the big tub. So what do you do? I am dealing with that right now. My 8 month old is finally just too big for her infant tub.(She is rather petite so we have lasted a long time in it actually!). I went down to the basement tonight to find our bath ring that we had previously used when our first daughter was small.
It is made by Safety 1st which is a name I trust in children's products. I have had luck with their products lasting and performing as they should. This bath ring is one piece and made of white plastic. There is a seat and then 3 columns (for lack of a better word) come up and form a ring which circles around the baby. It is not cushioned or padded but is hard smooth plastic all the way around. A padded back would be a nice feature. One of the "columns" is in the front and goes between baby's legs. Baby sits inside and is able to then sit up in the tub with the seat as a support. Since the seat is basically all open baby can splash in the water and you can clean him/her while they are safely inside the seat.
The seat attaches to the bottom of your tub with 4 suction cups. I find this works well as long as you are on the surface of the tub. When I first placed it in one of the suction cups overlapped onto our bath mat and therefore would not attach. To release there is a tab on each side which you can pull. When you pull this rubber tab it releases the suction cups and you can remove the bath ring from your tub.
I find the seat is held firmly in the tub but you still need to be careful. I had my older daughter in the tub at the same time and she was pulling on the seat from the side and managed to release one of the suction cups. Whenever you are bathing your children and babies you need to be there and be aware of what's going on. These products are great but don't let them give you a false sense of security.
In the front of the seat is a small spinning rattle. It is purple and teal and rattles when you spin it around. It really didn't interest my daughter at all. She would much rather be holding onto a face cloth or a small bath toy. She did enjoy her first bath in this ring though. She looked so surprised when I sat her in it and she was able to sit and splash in the water. I think it made bathtime more fun for her than the old infant tub days.
I would recommend this product for that time when your baby is just too big for one tub but too little for the other. It is a great in between time option!
