I got this oil in a gift package when we had our baby. At first, I didn't open it because I don't really like to put oily or greasy products on my skin or baby's skin. However, once I opened the product, I really liked the scent and decided to give it a try.
The product is a yellow oil. It is completely greasy and oily unlike cream products. The first thing I noticed is that there is no dispenser. So, if you spill the bottle, it all comes out. I would never want to clean up an oily mess so I am extra careful when the bottle is open. The lack of dispenser makes it hard to get a small amount at one time, particularly if you are juggling baby with the other hand.
I expected the product to be greasy and it is. The upside is that it is easy to apply. A small amount is absorbed by baby's skin. However, I would never put something so oily on my skin because it would immediately cause breakouts. The oil gets on my hands after applying it to baby and I usually want to wash them off to get rid of the oily feeling. I was worried that the yellow color of the oil might get on baby's clothes but that hasn't happened so far.
The oil has a nice apricot smell. The smell is rather strong but it fades quickly. Baby seems to like the scent.
This is a nice product to apply. I use only a small amount. It could probably be used for infant massage but baby would end up pretty greasy if you smear it all over her. I find a small amount is absorbed by baby's skin but you have to be careful about going overboard.
Because I use only a little at at time, the product has lasted a lot longer than I expected.
The directions say you can add the baby oil to warm bath water. I don't do that because I am afraid it could get in baby's eyes or mouth. Instead, I rub a small amount on baby just after the bath. It has done a nice job of keeping baby's skin soft. I don't use it on baby's tushie. Instead, I use diaper creme when necessary.
DIRECTIONS FROM THE PACKAGE
Add a capful of baby oil to warm bath water, or pamper baby (or yourself) with a gentle apres-bath massage.
INGREDIENTS
Apricot Kernel Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Wheat Germ Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate & Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Rosemary Extract, Beta-Carotene, Fragrance
RECOMMENDATION
I like this product and have used it quite a bit. The thing I don't like is the oily feel on my skin after I use the product on baby and I usually go and wash my hands to get the product off me. However, baby seems to like it and it does a good job keeping her skin soft.
