There are a few things in a parent's life where dread starts to loom concerning children. Getting a driver's license is definitely one such "happy" moment but that won't happen for years (oh wait, I already did that and I'm working in reverse). No, one of the things that starts earlier is potty children your toddler. I think I rather facing a firing squad than endure this Herculean task. Honestly, the occasion is marked with a twinge of sadness because it makes me realize my two-year old son is really growing up and very quickly right before my eyes. Sometimes I wish they could stay still at this age because he's so fun right now. And then there are times when you can't wait to kick them out the door. See you later! But potty training doesn't have to be a hard task at all with the Baby Björn Toilet Trainer to make things so much easier to handle.

My son was using the Summer 3 Stage Potty Trainer prior to this purchase. I have to say that the Baby Björn Toilet Trainer is a godsend. Seriously, this isn't an exaggeration. While I appreciate what the Summer 3 Stage Potty Trainer did in order to get my son in the mindset of using the toilet, it's this next stage with the Baby Björn that makes life easier.
When I first got a glimpse of this I was afraid the one of my toilets was permanently going to house this trainer. I assumed, and wrongly so, that once this contraption was placed over the toilet seat, it was either going to be very hard to take off or basically become one with the fixture. But I get ahead of myself.
The Baby Björn Toilet Trainer is a seat designed for a toddler to transition from a potty trainer to an actual-sized toilet. This training seat fits on top of a regular toilet seat thanks to an adjustable dial that makes it all happen. At the bottom of the trainer is a soft rubber edge and adjustable wings. Once the dial is set, it secures the seat in place so it doesn't slide around.
The beauty about this seat is making my son feel like he is actually using the "big boy's" toilet, as he keeps asking to sit on it. Because the toilet trainer looks like the real seat, he feels proud to know that he has graduated to the big league. The opening of the trainer was a bit of a concern for me when I first saw it since I thought he might fall in the toilet. Thankfully that concern was erased from my mind when I saw that the opening was just the right size to prevent him from fall slipping in but it's wide enough for me to help wipe him.
Even though it is made out of recyclable plastic, I can see that it's very comfortable for him when he is sitting on it. I appreciate that the design is completely made of contoured curves with no sharp angles in sight. Did I mention it's comfortable? I know this because I can see how excited my son is whenever he sits on it. He isn't fidgeting and he doesn't feel the need to hurry and get off the seat.
For parents with boys, you will appreciate the built-in splashguard on the seat. It really helps reduce the mess. I've also noticed how it instills confidence in my son knowing that he isn't making a "mistake." I like how those mistakes aren't all over the place as well.
There is a handle on the back to help lift the seat up from its place without having to soil your hands in the process. I appreciate how easy it is to clean it as well. Believe it or not this is the perfect size if you are traveling far and away from home for a while. It doesn't take up any room and will definitely help your child feel comfortable using the same seat in foreign places.
We purchased our Baby Björn through Amazon.com for a great price of $24. Trust me when I say it was worth every penny. It's perfect for any child from two to six years old.
If you have a toddler ready for potty training, then I totally recommend going the route of the Baby Björn Toilet Trainer. You will appreciate how it makes life so much easier for you and your toddler in all aspects of potty training. Pretty soon they will learn that they can also read while sitting on the potty. Oh wait, that's been done.
