| susey's Full Review: Baby Jogger Twinner II Stroller |
The Twinner II was always my dream jog stroller, but I didn't know how great it truly was until I finally purchased it. Pros outweigh the small cons, and at least one of my cons has been fixed. Although this item tends to be rather expensive, if you have two children and need to get around town, this is a must.
This 1998 model of the Twinner comes complete with hand brake and mesh baskets behind each of the seats. The hand brake has come in very handy on a couple of occasions. It's nice to know it is there and to know that if I need to park the stroller, I can. The mesh baskets are very roomy and allow enough room for books, water bottles and snacks for the children.
My children are 4 and 1 1/2 and love to sit in the stroller. I walk a lot in the summer and we spent many hours in it, even taking a picnic lunch with us. Amazingly, it all fit in the bottom basket! My stroller has 16 inch wheels, which I find to be exactly perfect for me. It goes up and down curbs easily and rounds corners better than most other strollers. The tires are also sturdy. I haven't had any problems with thorns or stickers, unlike friends of mine in the same area. A final positive about this stroller is the seats. Each one is deep enough for an older child and yet not too big for a younger child.
Cons are not numerous, but must be addressed. The bottom mesh basket is not terrific. It must be taken on and off every time the stroller is torn down and put together. The canopy is awful. It is wire with one piece of fabric that velcros it down. There is no way to see the children with it up and it is not adjustable at all. I do understand that later models have an adjustable canopy. One benefit to the canopy is that it comes down quite a ways on the sides so that the sun keeps off the children.
The Twinner is lightweight and relatively easy to take apart and put together. It can be cumbersome, though, due to it being a double stroller. I like that it is simple to take down and put together and that I don't have any difficulty taking the wheels off, as the wheels have a quick release feature. One problem is the amount of time it takes to tear down. It would be nice to see a latch of some sort that just helped the stroller to fold down. It fits nicely in the back hatch of our Dodge Shadow when flat. Overall, this is a wonderful product and I would not hesitate to purchase another one, IF this one ever wears out.
