| ValerieG's Full Review: Baby Smartronics Cookie Shape Surprise 71932 |
There's always that cool aunt or uncle who gets the best gifts for Christmas. In our family, that honor goes to Uncle Travis. He usually hits a home run with the kids' toys, and this past Christmas was no different, especially with Michael's Cookie Shape Surprise.
This toy is just too darned cute for words. Shaped like a cookie jar with a bright, cheerful face, there are fun things that happen regardless of how you play with it. When you flip on the button, a silly voice laughs. Take off the lid and reach inside, and a sensor triggers a song to play. Push the buttons, and learn shapes and numbers. Push the nose, and it lights up as a voice says several different phrases. There are two different modes to choose from; shapes and numbers. This provides seemingly endless playtime possibilities for a young child.
There are "cookie" shapes that are meant to go through the shapes cut into the side of the jar. Done successfully, this triggers either the corresponding shape or a number to be said. Michael still can't maneuver this, so he tosses the cookies into the top of the jar, and pushes the button triggers. I'm sure someday he'll figure out how to get the shapes to go through the holes, but for now, he's satisfied with this.
After five months, Michael still really enjoys this game. I feel good letting him play with it whenever he wants. It's made of high quality plastic, and judging by how many times we've dropped it, it's pretty durable.
