morgansmom's Full Review: Trend Lab Versailles Tulip Tote Bag with Changing ...
The stylish look of this diaper bag drew me to it - and I thought it would be the right bag for me because of some of it's features. Unfortunately, it didn't really work out that way.
Here is a run down of what this diaper bag has to offer;
OUTSIDE THE BAG
On the outside of the bag there are two bottle pouches on each end of the bag. There is also a zip down padded change pad (this change pad unfolds when unzipped and is permanently attached to the bag). There is a also a large mesh pocket where you can store diapers and changing necessities.
INSIDE THE BAG
Inside the bag you can find; two mesh pockets on one side of the bag and a large "cosmetic" bag which is secured to the inside with Velcro. The Baby Trend Tote and Diaper bag also comes with an insulated pull out bottle holder.
THE GOOD . . .
Here are the few things I do like about this diaper bag:
The Baby Trend bag is very stylish, so for a mother who wants a bag that looks good - this one fits the picture. It comes modern colors of black or a Kakhi brown (which is what I have).
I have a love/hate relationship with the change pad. I love it because it is attached to the bag, but I hate it because it is attached to the bag. In certain situations it would be better to have a detachable change pad, but it is great as you won't ever loose it. The change pad is big and well padded making it comfortable for your baby.
. . AND THE BAD
Here are the things that I don't like about this diaper bag:
The mesh pouch on the outside where you can put your diaper changing gear isn't big enough. You can only put a few diapers in the pouch and if you have a wipe container and rash cream it is nearly impossible to zip up the pouch.
The inside of the diaper bag is my biggest complaint. If you fill up the mesh pockets and fill the cosmetic bag it takes up all the room. It prevents you from seeing anything that you have packed in the bottom and you usually have to pull out the cosmetic bag in order to get to those items. It basically comes down to the fact that it's rectangular shape does not provide enough width inside to give open viewing space to find and reach your items easily.
Don't get me wrong - you can fit quite a bit of stuff in this bag - but it is really inconvenient to have to dig and find things especially when you are rummaging through it at the mall or in the car. I need a bag that I can open up quickly, see what I need, grab it and go. So when you are heading out to do a few quick errands this bag is too cumbersome and too big for a quick trip.
The shape of the diaper bag also made it difficult to put into my storage basket underneath my stroller. The basket on my stroller is small and square shaped (Bertini M5) so this diaper bag could only fit in sideways. I had to remove the bag each time I wanted to get something, instead of just being able unzip it and reach in.
WHAT I DO USE THIS BAG FOR
I DON'T use it as my everyday, run to the mall diaper bag. Here's the thing, when I was still pregnant I thought I wanted a diaper bag that would hold a lot of stuff. I mean we are going out for the day and I HAVE to have 2 changes of clothes at least 10 diapers, baby wipes, diaper cream, baby powder, 4 bottles, 5 toys, extra socks and shoes, 3 pacifiers, oh and don't forget about all my stuff - wallet, makeup, daytimer . . and the list goes on!
You want to know what I take out with me for the day now that my daughter is 7 months old? 2 diapers, 2 wipes, 2 bottles and my wallet. So take my advice, buy a small bag for your everyday use.
What I DO use this bag for is overnight trips/full day visits to Grandma & Grandpa's. It holds enough stuff for a full day, I don't have to lug it in and out of the car and stroller and I don't have to try and look for things buried at the bottom. I just unload everything at Grandma & Grandpa's and it stays out until we need to pack it up again to come home!
In conclusion, I should have followed that famous saying: "Don't judge a book by it's cover" - cause this 'book' is pretty to look at but it's not a good 'story'. There are better bags out there that are designed better and are more practical for everyday use.
