Although I am a strong advocate of extended breastfeeding, if you do find yourself using formula, I recommend Nature's Own. The product contains 97.75% organic ingredients with the remaining being free from genetically modified organisms (according to a letter received from the manufacturer).
After having received letters from other manufacturers such as "Heinz", "Carnation" and "Abbott Laboratories", I was disappointed to hear that they did not care in the slightest for the safety of the children they were providing food to. This was reflected when they said to me that their products contain genetically modified ingredients despite the fact that it has not been officially proven one way or the other (there have been some test showing no short term effects where others have detected DNA changes, intestinal changes and cancer in rats).
The good thing about using an organic alternative over the others is not only do you avoid genetically modified ingredients but you avoid pesticides, herbicides, artificial growth hormones and other toxic chemicals. In the organic alternative, the only ingredients to be weary of are the synthetic vitamins. If you do a websearch on this, you will find arguments for an against the use so I recommend doing your own research first. The other main conventional ingredient is Soy Lecithin which the manufacturer has also said is free from genetically modified organisms.
To buy any other conventional brand when there is an alternative is irresponsible.... exposing a child to chemicals, growth hormones and the untested, potentially hazardous genetic engineering while there is a safer organic alternative.

Great question!! You are correct to say that Baby's Own Organic Toddler Formula is 97.75% organic by weight. Certain necessary ingredients in our formulation are not considered organic.
The vitamin and mineral sources that we use are not considered organic because they are derivatives and isolations. There are no organic sources available for vitamins and minerals. Our natural vanilla flavoring is all natural, non-GMO! The expense of using organic vanilla is currently cost prohibitive. The soy lecithin that we use is also non-GMO, but not organic. Currently, there is no source in the world for organic soy lecithin, but we are strongly encouraging our supplier to provide this for us. All of the other ingredients in Baby's Own Organic Toddler Formula are 100% certified organic.
