Smoothie Maker vs Regular Blender (Reply to this comment)
by research-nut
I would sure love it if you would comment on why it is worth using the Smoothie Elite or Smoothie Pro instead of your regular blender. I am in the market for one or the other --but not both.
I want to make protein drinks and fruit smoothies. And, usually I am mixing for only one serving. As best I can tell, a Krups GMA1-11 (Power Xtreme VI) or the newer KitchenAid should do just as well. Especially if you use crushed ice from the frig. Could you include your thoughts on this? Any other comparison comments?

Thanks for including a couple of recipes for smoothies. I have printed them out so that I can make them for my son and daughter.
Nice review as well ...

"so Ill have to ask my wife to find it for me" is this true in EVERY house? LOL
I am glad you tried a smoothie and now that you have tried one there are a million more! I am sure there are some great recipes online too, but soon you will be throwing in what you like and not bothering to measure!
Be sure to share any wonderful new recipes you find!

NOT SURE ABOUT THE MACHINE BUT I WANT A SMOOTHIE (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
I never realized how easy it was to make a Smoothie or what the ingredients were of most till I read your review. I am allergic to White Mike and also assumed milk was a main ingredient? Now I know you can make them with yogurt, water or juices I want to try one. I just went into my kitchen and found a pre-mixed Smoothie packet (Banana-Strawberry) we received free in the mail, looked at it and see I only need to add juice or water and ice and mix. I cant find our mixer right now as we havent used it in 2 or 3 years so Ill have to ask my wife to find it for me. Thanks for the info.

We are right there with you Bev and the more combinations you try, the more you will LOVE them!! I just try and change them around to what the kids will drink and throw in some healthy additives now and then!

"smoothie-a-holic" recently, and I've got to thank you for these recipes! I've been hooked on banana/strawberry smoothies, but its time to branch out and try some new things.
Great review, I know my blender won't last much longer at the rate we're enjoying our smoothies, so I may consider purchasing one of these to save my blender.
