artemis8's Full Review: Back to Nature 0759283-10004-3 Crispy Wheats Crack...
The image doesn't match my product, but the info about these crackers and the upc matches what I have, so I am guessing there was a change of their logo and box design.
Back to NATURE Crispy Wheat Crackers made their way into my shopping cart because they were on sale and sounded good and I wanted to have a box of crackers to snack on at my desk at work.
Back to Nature tries to keep their products "delicious, simple foods without artificial flavors or preservatives, hydrogenated oils, or high fructose syrup."
They mostly meet the mark there. Although there are just 3 or 4 ingredients, there aren't too too many. Here is the list:
Unbleached enriched wheat flour, safflower oil, raw sugar, wheat germ, cornstarch, brown rice syrup, sea salt, barley extract, leavening, and natural turmeric flavor. No super hard to pronounce words.
The crackers themselves are good. They are crisp and I like the wheat flavor. I did not eat these crackers with anything on them, just snacked on them plain and enjoyed them. They are in the shape of a square and remind me of Wheat Thins, a little over an inch to each side. You can see little bits of wheat (probably wheat germ) in the crackers and there is tiny sparkles of salt on the top (though it's not that different from the bottom) side of each cracker.
The box says it has 8 servings of 17 crackers. Each serving has 130 calories. Doing the math, if you wanted a 100 calorie snack you could ust eat 13 crackers. They are sort of addicting though, so be prepared to want to eat more than just 13.
Some other things I like about these crackers, is that the company has been around since 1960 and uses 100% recycled paperboard with vegetable derived inks. The side of the box also tells us that they are a supporter of the Nature Conservancy (I am a supporter of them too).
The only negative is that they only come in an 8 oz side package (no family size) and they are a bit more expensive than some similar products on the market. Right now they are $3.33 for an 8 oz box, vs $3.30 for a 10oz box of Wheat Thins on Amazon.
Overall though I've been very happy to have these at my desk. They are pretty healthy and made with less processed ingredients. They taste good and tide me over in the afternoons between lunch and dinner.
