| meagandowney's Full Review: Badger Basket Ba Balm |
We've had an assortment of Badger Balm products around the house ever since my boyfriend's family got turned on to them. I have the Badger Sleep Balm which was given to me as a gift when I was pregnant and my boyfriend has the Badger Healing Balm for hands that are ravaged by the restaurant business. While I like this brand, I've never really sought it out for myself because it's just one of those luxuries I have too little time with which to luxuriate.
I purchased the Baby Balm when my daughter started motoring around the house, the yard, and everywhere else on all fours and her once silky soft legs became rough and bumpy. The regular Johnson and Johnson lotion after bathtime wasn't cutting it, so I thought I'd try this. I picked it up for around $5 at a grocery store that sells organic products.
All Natural Ingredients
I like the fact that Badger Baby Balm isn't loaded with chemicals like so many baby care products. It's a simple concoction of organic extra virgin olive oil, castor oil, beeswax, calendula extract and chamomile. The formula is quite soothing and just the right consistency for baby's skin. The chamomile offers a relaxing aromatic backdrop after bathtime and the beeswax brings a firmness that allows me to manipulate the oils and rub them onto my baby's skin. It doesn't fully absorb at first, but within about 20 minutes it's fully absorbed. I really slathered it on my daughter's legs because it was such a problem area, but I really didn't have much time to do it in because she is like a writhing fish after her bath.
Even though she doesn't relax for massages, the balm noticably calmed her down and smoothed out the bumps in her legs within a matter of days. My .75 ounce tin is nearly halfway gone and I've only been using it for a few weeks, but I think it's worth it for the price and the effectiveness.
The balm is a thick yellow color. It isn't sticky, but it can be a little tricky to wash off. I typically rub the remainder into my own hands and let it sink in before washing.
After applying the balm, I can safely give the closed tin to my baby to gnaw on while I finish changing her, but I only recommend this under supervision. Older babies will have no trouble getting the lid off of the tin, and you don't want your child ingesting the castor oil and beeswax in this quantity.
Makes a Great Gift
Badger Baby Balm would make a great addition to a shower gift basket or to a mom with a slightly older baby who is mobile. It's done more than any number of lotion sessions could for my baby and it's all natural. I'm thrilled to report that at least one Badger Balm product in this house will be used up in a matter of weeks.
Five out of five stars.
