Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
Pros:great flavor, very inexpensive
Cons:may be difficult to find
The Bottom Line: You really can't go wrong with Badia Ground Cumin. It is flavorful and very easy on the wallet. I love it!
I do a lot of cooking at home both just for the two of us and to entertain our family and friends. As a result, I use incredible amounts of food, seasonings, and spices. One of the spices that I use very often is cumin, so I was very happy to discover the line of Badia spices in the local grocery store because they are so reasonably priced. I have a modest salary, so it is important for me to save money where I can and Badia Ground Cumin is one of those ingredients that helps me to make delicious food for everyone.
About This Product
Badia Ground Cumin is exactly what it sounds like: a 16 ounce clear plastic bottle with a lid that has two openings: one that lets you spoon out the cumin and one that lets you shake it out into a pot or bowl. The local grocery store sells this product for just $3.79. For some strange reason, though, they don't put Badia spices and seasonings next to the McCormick and Spice Classics ones. They are stocked next to other Latino products in the "ethnic" aisle instead.
My Experience
I use cumin all the time. Every single week I'm using it in something or other: hummus, marinades, spice rubs, brines, burritos, chili, etc. It is just one of those spices that I couldn't seem to get enough of once I started including it in my various kitchen creations. Cumin adds a deep and rich spicy and somewhat smoky flavor that I really enjoy.
I've spent $5+ for small bottles (1 ounce) of McCormick Ground Cumin, but I won't ever buy them again! Why would I when I can get 16 ounces of Badia Ground Cumin for just $3.79? It is just as flavorful and delicious as the pricier stuff.
Overall Opinion
Badia Ground Cumin is quite a bargain. 1 pound for less than $4 is an amazing price and the best part is that this stuff is still flavorful and delicious despite the inexpensive price.
