We need a bagel slicer? (Reply to this comment)

Ok...I hear there's a thing called a BREAD KNIFE that cuts bagels of all sizes. Ya cut half way, rotate the bagel and cut the remainder. Or ya cut down onto a cutting board. Is cutting a bagel - brain surgery for some folks? LOL Great review!

It works sometimes. But on Whole wheat bagels and otherwise not firm bagels, it destroys them. It smooshes the bagel down, then after the blade finally penetrates the bagel, rather than cleanly slicing through, it peels down the inside of the bagel reducing it to large crumbs. This is not a result of a dull blade. I haven't used it that much for the blade to have gotten dull. The times that it does work, I found my bagel to be unevenly sliced ie: either the top or bottom slice is way thinker than the other. For now, I just use the bottom half of the unit to hold my bagel while I manually slice it which doesn't even do a good job at THAT either! I do NOT recommend this gadget.

we have all the kitchen gadgets we need another one pops up. How we've made it without our own bagel slicer all these years is beyond me.

Thanks for the review (and explaining the picture - I had wondered about the friends with you as well)

Yup. Those are the famous Barbary Apes of Gibraltar. I escaped the cold winter in Poland by taking a vacation there this year. By the time I came back, the spring had nearly arrived.
