| bocgirl's Full Review: Bailey Nurture Iii |
I did a lot of research among friends and online when I was looking to buy a pump. Some of my friends had Medelas or Hollisters. All of them said to buy a double electric pump. But I had a hard time swallowing the price of these things! $250 for a Medela is ridiculous. Then I ran across the Bailey Nurture III while online, and it sounded good, so I decided to buy one. Am I glad I did! I have found it very easy to use and consistent, and I have been using it for 3 months as of this writing. You can choose to use it as a single or double pump. There are 2 settings for amount of suction on the double, 3 on the single pump option. Some of the other pumps do automatic suction cycles. On the Bailey, you create the cycles yourself by using a finger. It is simple to do, and you can decide how short or long you want the suction cycle to be, to better mimic how your baby sucks. The set up of the pump is a snap, and even from the beginning, I could quickly set it up, start pumping, and finish and clean up in 20 minutes when I used the double pump or single pump. My kit came with bag, 6 bottles, ice pack, hoses, pump cups, flanges and caps, as well as an instructional video and guide book. The Bailey also has something apparently a lot of the others don't, which is an overflow filter. This filter prevents any liquid getting into the hoses. You only have to clean the cups, flanges and bottles after use. Granted the pump is a little bit noisy, but that doesn't bother me, especially when you are only talking about 15 or 20 minutes of time. The tote bag is very boxy and stylish, and initially it seems like everything couldn't fit in it, but it can. Both parts of the bag are insulated. The warranty on the pump is 2 years, compared to 1 year for most of the others. I have also found several other bottles that fit the pump. The only real drawback is I have only found the pump and the accessories for sale (in my area anyway) online.
