Baker's Best expanded its space last year. This is a testament to how popular this spot is. The wait for a table on a weekend morning can be over 1/2 an hour. The weekend food ranges from simple bagels to eggs benedict and huevos rancheros. Our family of four can get a substantial breakfast for $20-25 before tip.
The downside to the recent expansion is that the restaurant has not grown into its space. The wait is disorganized with one hostess managing a list. Once, after waiting over 20 minutes inside, my husband stepped outside to take an impatient and hungry child for a walk. The waitress then walked me to a table. When I sat down without my husband she insisted I leave because our whole party was not together. When I explained that my husband would be right back and I would order for him, she still insisted I get up. Luckily, my husband returned and ended the dispute but it was really unpleasant. The service is very inconsistent, sometimes great and sometimes unbelievably horrible. The staff is sometimes friendly and sometimes rushed. Before the expansion, we ate here frequently. Since the dropoff in service, we have gone less frequently but can still recommend the restaurant for the good, reasonably-priced food.
The restaurant also offers catering. I used them for a bridal shower and was extremely pleased. The food was delivered exactly on time, fresh and a good value. I would use them again.
The restaurant also offers dinner. The prices look reasonable: $14-18 for an entree. We don't eat there for dinner because the space is really more suited for breakfast: bright yellow walls and large windows.
The neighborhood has other options for dinner in that price range.
