Pros:Beautiful piece of furniture, besides being a gorgeous instrument
Several years ago, I fell in love with Baldwin pianos and have loved them ever since. Baldwins are one of the few piano companies still made in the US and are currently made in Mississippi. The wood is genuinely American and they come in a variety of styles and rich woods to suit your home or decor. I bought a Queen Anne to go with the styling in my formal living room then. What a beauty. The finish was so lovely that you wanted to ever so slightly drag your hand across it, as you walked by it.

The sound of the Baldwins is what got my attention. They have been making Acrosonics for about 40 years and they have wonderfully lasting value.
I have a friend who is a performer, and got hers over 40 years ago , and she plays hers every day and must say it still sounds lovely.
They have a bright sound, not too bright- just right and have a tight action on the keys until it gets broken in, so to speak. I found that the keys on my new one were stiff. So,I invited my friend and she came and played about five hours a day for a week and we both noticed a difference in the action.
The pedals have a nice spring action and seems to have a solid brass finish- one that lasts a long time, based on the wear and tear on my friends of over 40 years. Her pedals still look as new as when she got her piano.
The tuning seems to be relatively stable. I think that major dampness will make a difference if the piano is kept in a basement or some area of the house where there is a lot of moisture. However,if the reverse is true, Baldwin makes a humidifier that fits inside the lower upright piece under the keyboard. You add water whenever the warning light comes on to keep some moisture in the holding area. And, according to the Baldwin folks, it does have an effect on the sound.
I have seen many, many Baldwins over the years - from ones signed by Ferrante and Ticscher to old church pianos. They all seem to withstand the test of time as a piece of furniture. It is not until you strike a key that you hear a true tone on that keyboard, you know that you have a quality instrument to be enjoyed for a long time to come.
