I have been blessed with combination skin, which can be tricky at times but doesn't bother me too much. I think I'd rather be right in the middle than be extremely oily or dry. My skin often has dry patches yet is oily and prone to breakouts in my T-Zone. My miracle product that I have found balances my combination skin is Clean & Clear Oil Free Dual Action Moisturizer. It makes my skin completely normal, controlling the oil in my T-Zone and moisturizing those dry spots.
Although I've found a great moisturizer, I never thought I could find a sunscreen to do all of this until I tried Banana Boat Faces Plus. Most sunscreens that I have put on my face in the past have caused me to break out and the thought of putting that thick lotion on my face always made me cringe as I knew the results would be pimples the next day! A few years ago, a company came up with a sunscreen containing benzoyl peroxide, which is know to be used to fight acne. I also tried this sunscreen, however the benzoyl peroxide was too harsh and dried out my skin. Finally, Banana Boat Faces Plus has come to my rescue with the perfect SPF for combination skin! This is know a must-have product for me.
THE PRODUCT
Banana Boat Faces Plus comes in a 4 fl. oz stand up yellow tube with a blue flip-open lid. The lid is easy to open and close and I have never had any problems with leaking or spills. The bottle has a soft outside unlike some sunscreens and the feel of the bottle is more like a tube of toothpaste. It's lightweight and easy for travel, I can easily throw it in my purse or beach bag.
Banana Boat Faces Plus is . . .
* Specially formulated for normal/combination skin that is prone to breakouts, has large pores on nose and chin and gets oily in the T-zone.
* Oil Free
* Hypoallergenic
* Waterproof
* Provides UVA and UVB protection.
* Fortified with balanced moisturizers designed not to clog pores.
* Enriched with Aloe Vera extract, Vitamin E and Collagen/Elastin.
* May be used as a moisturizing make-up base.
MY EXPERIENCE
To apply, I squeeze a small amount of sunblock onto the palm of my hand. I should note that I really like how the opening of the tube is very small and allows just enough sunblock to squeeze out. I don't have to worry about tons of sunblock pouring out and me having to figure out where to put it all. I then spread the sunblock all over my face and rub in until I can no longer see the white sunblock.
I think that this is sunblock rubs in just as well as others I have used. It's not hard for me to rub in and only takes a few seconds until I can no longer see the sunblock. My skin feels great after using the Banana Boat Faces Plus. My face doesn't feel greasy like it normally does with other sunscreens, it almost feels as if I have nothing on at all. I have used this sunblock under make-up with no problems, it's just like using my regular moisturizer for combination skin, it simply balances the dry and oily spots. There is a light scent that isn't wonderful, but isn't offensive either.
Of course you should reapply sunscreen often, especially if you are swimming. When I reapply the sunblock as directed, I never burn. I think that the SPF 23, while it may seem like a random number, is perfect because normally I would use only an SPF of 15 on my face because I always thought that SPF 30 was too high - I like to be tan even though I know it's horrible for my skin!
Other areas of my body that are prone to burns are my shoulders and chest. I often only bring this Banana Boat Faces Plus to the beach or pool so I use it on other parts of my body too and it's just as effective. Normally, I would rather bring a less expensive sunblock for my body since I don't really need the balanced moisturizers, but it works when I have nothing else.
I highly recommend the Banana Boat Faces Plus for anyone with combination skin. It also may help those with oily skin if regular sunscreen causes breakouts. I would say that it's too expensive to use for the body, unless you have body acne on your chest and back, which this could really help with. When used just for the face, this small tube really goes a long way.
I purchased my tube of Banana Boat Faces Plus at CVS for $7.99.
