My little one Loves her Barbie Bike

Pros:Daughter loved all the frill, and price wasn't to bad.
Cons:I don't like the hand brakes.
The Bottom Line: I would recommend, would like to see brakes updated though.

I purchased the DYNACRAFT Barbie 16 Inch Bike at Walmart for $77.  It was in my price range although I did see a couple other bikes out there that looked better made than this one, my 6 year old was given the choice between this bike and two others in my price range.  I think the glittery pom poms and the Barbie removable backpack won her over.  Also there was an attached toy bicycle at the top in which she  was able to  put one of her Barbie dolls in and they could ride around together.  This particular model was 16 inches, and also  had a hot pink steel frame, and pink removable handlebar covers. She was still in need of training wheels, and they are removable when you get to the point where you think your child is ready for that.

What my daughter liked about the bike? Well, the Barbie theme hands down won her over. It wouldn't have mattered if this bike was made of cardboard, that is the one that she wanted.  Over the course of a month she had the pads removed, the glittery streamers were pulled out of the handles, and  she can't seem to find her Barbie Backpack. She removed the Barbie carrier which at one time really worked and I thought was a neat idea, well sort of....   There was a few times she tried to play with her Barbie while she was riding on her bike I thought perhaps she was going to have a wipe out.

What I didn't like about the bike:  I could care less about all the decorations and streamers, I want to know that my child is going to be safe on her bike.  I thought that the idea of handle bar brakes is kind of silly with all these little ones have to try and deal with, trying to keep balance, looking out for trafic and trying not to run into anything. I think the brakes are sort of on the cheap side and if you are going to put brakes like this on a kids bike, you need to make sure they are going to work.  The neighbor gentleman next door fiddled and tweaked them a bit and they seem to be better than they were.    I think she has a hard time with trying to grip the brakes.

The seat on this bike matches the brakes and handles which are a purple in color. The seat seems to be made durable, and has a bit of a cushion for comfort.   The tires have a girly design on them and are white.  It is almost impossible to keep these tires looking clean, they pick up all sorts of stains including grass stains.  I do want to say that I thought the tires were fairly durable too.

This product comes fully assembled which is a good thing, and it fit right in my Toyota Yaris trunk in which I was surprised but thankful. I don't have any real complaints other than the brakes, and the white tires.  My daughter is six and about 40 pounds. We have a slight incline going down the street in which she has a hard time pedaling up.  She comes to a point where she slows down and starts rolling backwards, and her brakes don't seem to help. We have had more mishaps that way.  I highly suggest your little one wear a helmet with this bike, especially when learning to ride with or without the  training wheels. There seems to be some awkward turns where she has fell from the bike as well.

This bikes comes with an owners manual that gives tips on how to raise the seat, add mirror, daily, weekly and monthly upkeep, and other suggestions.  It also comes with a card to fill out so that you can register for their limited Warranty on the frame and fork which is a lifetime warranty, and 24 months on defective parts. If you don't want to fill out the card you can register on line, and they have a 1-800 number:  1-800-551-0032 and http://www.dynacraftbike.com.

I will say that at times my daughter finds the bike hard to manuveur and doesn't have a lot of patience with it. I suppose though that she might be this way with any other brand of bike as well.  Overall no big complaints, I would just like to see better brakes.
