Pros:Colorful Clothes that are more durable than Nutcracker Barbies
Cons:He buys his hair gel at the same place as my brother.
The Bottom Line: If you are buying him so that he can dance with Barbie, I would avoid the purchase because it doesn't work so well.
I bought this Ken for daughter for Christmas. It had been my goal to not buy any new Barbies for her this year because, frankly, she already has too many. However, my son did not agree and conned his Aunt into a "job" so that he could buy Nutcracker Barbie. I then could just not resist buying her the Ken because they can dance together on the dance stand that comes with Barbie.
Ken came dressed in a beautiful Nutcracker suit. I really like his clothes, Barbies were cheap. His shirt is bright red, with gold trim. The shirt has long tails in the back, that are blue on the other side. He wears white tights,(Hay, it's a ballet), and tall blue boots with gold trim. For his head Ken has a gold crown since he is Prince Eric.
Since, Ken is also the Nutcracker he came with a big mask that fits over his head. The back of his mask has white fur and and long, fur trimmed cape. The face of the mask looks a lot like the Nutcracker from the Barbie movie. He has big, blue eyes, a big nose, mustache, and rectangle mouth. After you place the mask on Ken there is a Nutcracker hat also included. His hat is tall and blue, with gold trim, a gold star, and a red brim.
Nutcracker Barbie came with ugly jointed arms and legs but Kens are not like that. Still he has nasty hair. It is brown and stiff. A little girl would not be able to brush or comb his hair because it would break the brush! When I was little Ken's hair was molded to his head. My brother used to buy this nasty hair gel, and I think that Ken is shopping at the same place. It looks like he really went overboard with gel to impress Barbie.
I mentioned before that I bought the Ken to go with Barbie since they are supposed to Dance together, on that stand that is sold with Barbie. If this is your plan, for the Ken that you may be considering, then let me share Mattel's marketing secert. Ken comes with a stupid piece of little plastic that you hook around his waist, then place the bottom into the dance stand. You then place Barbie in the stand. The stand has wheels on the bottom and when you push it around, it turns the dolls. They turn once, beautiful!, twice, beatuiful!, and then the fall to ground and you daughter weeps bitter tears. Meanwhile, over at Mattel, they are laughing their heads off at all of us.
