| Gladster's Full Review: Barbie PC |
I have both a boy and a girl. This last year has been rough on both of them with the divorce, and then the May 3rd Tornado that took our home plus their grandparents home. I thought I would give them a fabulous Christmas this year to make up for it. On 11-24-99 I ordered a Barbie PC for my daughter, and a Hotwheels PC for my son. I received a confirmation email instantly stating someone would be contacting me soon with an estimated delivery date. I sent the checks out that same day On 11-29-99 I came home from work to find a message on my voice mail stating my computers had been shipped and would be arriving by UPS the 2nd week of December. On 12-06-99 I came home from work to find a message on my voicemail stating in order to ship the computers into the US they needed my SSN. I called them the next day, giving them the information they requested. On 12-8-99 the checks cleared my bank. By Christmas, the computers still had not arrived. One of my fellow workers told me they had contacted her to apologize for the delay of her shipment offering her a Barbie, a Hotwheels car, and software that originally did not come with the computer. I received nothing like this. I tried calling Patriot computers to find out why. I couldn't get through. It seemed the lines were always busy or I was on eternal hold. I finally got through to someone on 1-3-00. The 3 different people I talked called me a liar, stating I was never called with a confirmation of the 2nd week of December. I gave them the order number and the extension that was given on both of the messages. As we all know voicemail only saves messages for 2 weeks. This was a month later, therefore its my word against theirs on that. According to them my computers still had not been shipped. When I asked when they expected to ship them I was told they could not give me that information. What kind of company advertises, sell, receives money for merchandise, but then does not deliver promised merchandise to the consumer. My advice is to stay away from the BarbiePC or the HotwheelsPC. On January 20th, I received both computers but no monitors. Then January 28th I finally received both of the monitors. There are some minor flaws in the computers. I would return them to be fixed but it took long enough to get them I would rather just leave it be. On the Hot Wheels computer the little bolts that you screw the monitor hookup into are missing. You can plug the monitor in but you cannot tighten it down. On the Barbie computer you have to repeatedly press the button to get the CD ROM Drive to open up. The screen freezes up for about 30 seconds when they are playing the games.
