moonsista's Full Review: Bare Escentuals Eyeshadow
One of the first Bare Escentuals products I tried was the Eyeshadow. Not to be confused with Glimmer (a sparkly shadow) or Glimpse (a shadow that is like a mixture of Eyeshadow and Glimmer), the Eyeshadow is probaby the most addicting (and collectible..and affordable..) Bare Escentuals product there is.
Product Details:
bareMinerals Shadow is part of the Bare Escentuals line of cosmetics that are "made from 100% pure, micronized minerals that are free of preservatives, oil, fragrance, talc and other potential irritants" (taken from website). Other products in this line include foundation, mineral veil, blush, liner shadow and many other cosmetic products.
bareMinerals Eyeshadow is a non-shimmery, loose powder eyeshadow that comes in a small, .02 oz. pot. I know that .02 oz. sounds like a teeny, tiny amount, but it's likely enough to last you for a few years. The pot itself is clear plastic on the bottom, with a black plastic, screw-on lid and measures 1.5" across. There is no sifter top; once you open the lid, there's your open pot of shadow.
How To Use:
The easiest way to use the shadow is to screw off the lid, and dip your eyeshadow brush into the small amount of shadow that is clinging to the inside of the lid. This is the easiest way to not only not get too much on your brush, but to be able to set the pot of shadow aside and not have to hold it, thus risking spilling it (which I did many times in my early days of using this shadow).
This shadow works very well with both an angled eyeshadow brush and a regular eyeshadow brush. If you are putting one shade of the shadow over another, or applying Bare Escentuals' Warmth over a shade (which gives any shade a warm look), Bare Escentuals has a great Blending Brush that works great for this.

My Experience:
I love these shadows so much - I can't even begin to tell you how great these are. The positives here are many, but the fact that they are so pure and non-irritating is the biggest plus in my book. The second positive with these shadows is that they are so light and smooth - but yet they absorb oil all day and I never get oil breakthrough or creasing on my eyelids - ever! They are amazingly long-lasting and it takes a lot of abuse to the eye area to make these wear off. They are also a bit sheer, which means that they are layerable and also natural-looking.
I have this shadow in the following shades: Violet Sky, Pacific Heights, Java, You Can Never Be Too Rich Brown, Demure, Blush, Princess, Dove, Peach Puff, Pebble, Justice, Cashmere and Vanilla Sugar. Every shade, with the exception of Peach Puff (in my opinion) is extremely wearable. The Peach Puff shade is a brighter peach shade that I can't pull off, no matter how hard I try. I find myself reaching for the neutral brown shades such as Pebble, Justice and Java again and again.
Layering Warmth over or under a shade such as Peach Puff or Vanilla Sugar is a great way to not only warm up an eyeshadow shade, but also tone down brightness or darken up a shade that is too light. You can also dip a lip balm into any eyeshadow shade to get an instant matching lip color. I've done this with Blush and Pebble with good results.
Price and Purchasing Information:
Each pot of shadow is $12 at BareMinerals.com and BareEscentuals.QVC.com. I always recommend getting them at QVC.com because they have a 30-day money back guarantee. QVC also puts out its own Bare Escentuals catalog, which has many catalog-exclusive products, and offers a flat $3.97 shipping charge no matter how large your catalog order.
Epinions.com periodically updates pricing and product information from third-party sources, so some information may be slightly out-of-date. You should confirm all information before relying on it.
