Pros: Color lasts; smooth, high-quality feel; moisturizes; doesn't smell bad; no bad taste
Cons: Moisture doesn't last as long as color; shimmer in some shimmery shades can "cake"
The Bottom Line: A pretty good lipstick!

I love a good lipstick just like any other woman. I also like to pay maybe $10 for my lipsticks. I didn't like it when I had to pay $15 for my first Bare Escentuals Lipstick, but, because I have wanted to try everything by Bare Escentuals, it didn't take me long to buy my first Bare Escentuals Lipstick, despite the price!
Product Details:
Bare Escentuals Lipstick is a full-size lipstick that comes in a matte black plastic tube. It's a nice, heavy tube - not cheap and shoddy. There is a silver, chrome-ish band around the middle of the tube, and the words "i.d. lip" appear on the side of the tube in the same chrome-y look. It's just like any other lipstick in appearance - it swivels up, and has a pull-off cap that just snaps back on when you are done.
Bare Escentuals Lipstick comes in the following shades, among others:
*Orange Zest
*Juice
*Charmed
*Baby
*Knockout
*Rain
*Petal
*Nude
*Chic Pink
*Passion Fruit
*Katelynn
*Angora Rose
*Yumi
*Silky Mauve
*Berry Pretty
*Sheer Joy
*Warmth
*Beach
*Goddess
*Pecan
*Terra Cotta
*Serenity
*Innocence
*Wearable Pink
*Tango
*Rosewood
*Truffle
*Aida
*Merlot
*Spirit
*Pink Lace
*Mouth
*Golden
Please note that the above list is most likely not a full listing of colors. It's also hard to tell which shades are discontinued, if any of them are. I've had a hard time determining if any shades are discontinued. Bare Escentuals does not show all of their current shades on their website, at BareMinerals.com. I see some different shades in their current QVC catalog, but then I also see some of the shades on the website but not in the catalog.
There is .15 oz. of lipstick in each tube. This is average for a full-size lipstick.

My Experience:
I was excited to try my first lipstick when I purchased it. My first shade was Baby, which is a shimmery, light pink shade. I was excited because I like the Bare Escentuals line of course, but I also was excited by the fact that this lipstick contains shea butter, which is one of the ingredients in many of my favorite products.
The look of Bare Escentuals Lipstick is the same as any other average lipstick - not glossy, not matte. But the difference is the application. This is not a lightweight, cheap lipstick. This lipstick is a little thicker, and offers full coverage. It has a nice, weighty feel on the lips, but is not waxy or too thick. You can feel the quality in this lipstick - that's the only way I can describe it.
These lipsticks seem to me to be highly pigmented. The color stays on the lips after the moisture is gone. This is my favorite thing about this lipstick. I'm not stuck with bare, dry lips after an hour. I can look in the mirror, and even with the lighter shades, can still see the color, even if I can't feel the moisture.
The moisture does not last as long as I feel it should for a high-end lipstick. I get about two hours of moisture from this lipstick, which is about average for me. I'd like to get three hours of moisture out of this lipstick, but that just doesn't happen.
The shades that I own (Baby, Petal and Yumi), are all shimmer shades. The shimmer in these shades can "cake" on the lips after several applications throughout the day. Sometimes, if I've already applied this lipstick several times throughout the day, I have to actually wipe my lips with a tissue before re-applying so that I can get the "caked" shimmer off. This is not a lot of shimmer, but it is more of the shimmery patina that is left on the lips. This is also part of what I was referring to earlier in this review when I said that the color lasts - part of this reason is because this shimmery patina stays on the lips for quite a while.
Three more nice things about this lipstick are:
1. It doesn't taste bad. I'm sooo tired of lipsticks that taste bad (Revlon!), and I'm growing tired of the minty lipstick taste as well. There is just NO taste to Bare Escentuals Lipstick. This is a good thing!
2. It doesn't smell bad. This lipstick just smells very mildly like lipstick, and doesn't smell like perfume, fruit or other food. Bare Escentuals claims that this lipstick is an "aromatherapy treat" - but I have never noticed a scent to any of my Bare Escentuals lipsticks!
3. One tube of Bare Escentuals Lipstick lasts forever. I am not sure if this is because I'm used to the glossier lipsticks that tend to get used up and worn down faster, or what - but I use Bare Escentuals lipsticks for weeks and barely make a dent in the lipstick.
You'll have to decide for yourself if the benefits that this lipstick offers are worth $15 to you. If you think that you would like this lipstick, then you probably will. But if you don't, then save your $15. The weighty feel, smooth texture and nice shades help to justify the price, in my opinion.
