Pros:Sheer, Light, Quality Product
Cons:Price
The Bottom Line: If you like a good-quality gloss, that's sheer and versatile, this would be perfect for you!
I am a Bare Escentuals/Bare Mineral junkie. I admit it. After years of watching the infomercial, I finally gave in and purchased a kit about two years ago and Ive been wearing the make-up exclusively since. For Christmas, I was given a gift certificate to a new Bare Escentuals store and I had a fabulous time shopping in person and trying out the products I usually buy online and eBay. The added benefit of my rare trip to the store was I was given a bonus for my rather large purchase a tube of Bare Escentuals Luscious Vitamin E Stick lipstick.
Like many of the Bare Escentuals products, this is a one-color-fits-most product. Its sheerness means that it doesnt overpower the complexion of the wearer so more people are able to wear it well. This stick is a sheer rose.
It contains vitamin E and other natural botanicals said to soothe and treat dry, chapped lips and it did add shine with just a hint of color which I enjoyed as Im not a lipstick person. It can also be used as a cheek color a trademark of the Bare Escentuals line, many of the pieces are dual purposed.
It's in a stick form, and it has body to it, but it's definitely not creamy like a regular stick. It is between a cream and a full gloss, just enough cream to hold it together, but it is absolutely sheer and glossy. Since this was not an intentional purchase and I wasn't trying to correct any specific problems with my lips, I'm afraid I can't report on the healing properties. Unlike my husband who has a horrible Chapstick habit, my lips are generally normal - no chapping or peeling. Because of this, it's hard for me to rate the healing aspects since I don't have any of the problems associated with the need for a moisturizing lipstick. I didn't notice any changes since using it, but then that doesn't necessarily mean it wouldn't work for someone who did need treatments it provided.
It can be worn over or under your regular lip color or alone as I wear it. Since I wear it alone, its more of a gloss and lasts as long as a typical gloss depends on the amount of talking, drinking, etc., that I do. Application is easy and doesnt require a mirror since its so sheer that a mistake isnt obvious.
Would I purchase it? No, Im not a lipstick girl and the price is a bit more than Id pay for gloss. I do carry it with me and use it when I think about it, but Im not an everyday user. Having glossy lips just isnt on my top 10 list of things to do during the day. It probably should be, but isnt. But for wearability, color, texture, fragrance, etc., Id recommend it for others. In addition, if youve been thinking of trying the line of products but the orange-faced infomercials have been turning you off, try it in a store with the right color its fabulous!
