| ms_pookie's Full Review: Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation |
I am not much one for make up or cosmetics, but I do have quite an uneven complexion with blotchy redness. I hate that. So, I have tried many foundations (pressed powders, loose powders, foundation sticks, and even liquid foundations) to try to find that one magical product that would feel great and look natural. I did have some good luck with my MAC StudioFix Foundation but I was a bit disappointed with the lack of SPF protection. A co-worker introduced me to Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation and I decided to give it a try.
The Product
Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation SPF 15 comes in a squat pot that has a black lid. The pot is clear and the lid is easily removed by unscrewing it off. Inside, there is a sifter that separates small portions of the powder from the rest. The 0.3 oz (9 grams) of powder costs $25 and is available at Bare Escentuals boutiques, Sephora, and QVC.

My Experience
I love Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation.
I apply my Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation (Light 2.0) after my daytime moisturizer has absorbed. The Bare Escentuals consultant informed me that it is important to use a moisturizer prior to using the bareMinerals foundation because it will assist the powder to adhere.
The Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation works both as a concealer and a foundation. I first tap out some of the foundation onto the inverted lid and use a concealer brush to apply it to blemishes or overly red areas of my face. I then take the Flawless Face brush to swirl some of the foundation in the lid, tap out the excess powder, and then swirl it in circles on my face. I find that swirling it on my face works well to distribute the powder as well as even out the powder that I used to conceal. The Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation leaves my face looking great! It evens out my skin tone and feels superb on my face as it is lightweight. The powder does not give me the overly done look I dont look painted with caked on foundation. I find that the foundation lasts a good amount of time easily five hours without a need for touchups. (Note: I do also use Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil with the bareMinerals.) The bareMinerals also minimizes the appearance of some of my pores on my cheeks; unfortunately, it does not do much for the large pores on my nose.
The Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation works great with my combination skin. It does not clog pores and does not irritate my skin.
What I Love About Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation
- Lightweight
- Great coverage
- Natural look
- SPF Protection
- Easy to apply
What I Would Improve About Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation
- The container The container makes it difficult for touchups during the day because you have to unscrew the container, invert the lid, retrieve some powder, and do the routine. Also, I am very afraid of accidentally tipping over the pot during application; that would be a tragic waste of $25! The container (pot) is okay for home use but becomes a bit cumbersome when used outside of home. Bare Escentuals does sell a to-go container for the bareMinerals foundation
costing you a cool $25.
Overall Thoughts
Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Foundation is an awesome, AWESOME product that will provide great coverage with a natural look. It is easy to use once the routine is set (retrieve, swirl, tap, and apply).
