Pros: Nice color, doesn't settle into lines, feels natural.
Cons: A general feeling- it is best for oily skin which mine is not.
The Bottom Line: This is a nice product. I still like my Sephora foundation the best though.

| jo.com's Full Review: Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation |
I finally thought I had found the only foundation I would ever use by Sephora. It is called All Over Foundation but the key is to use Sephoras base de tent under it. On one of my trips to New York City my daughter and I walked into Sephora and each came out with several products. One was Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation.
About this product and the claims:
I bought the full-sized foundation. You can buy introduction kits with smaller bottles. This is a 3-ounce (9 gram) sifter pot. This is essentially how loose powders are sold. It is in a pot with a large twist off cap and the sifter is used so I dont have to dip my brush into the large pot. In addition I have found that if I drop it, I dont loose it all!
Nifty packaging but I paid $25.00 for this which is certainly more than many other foundations.
It comes in 12 colors. I bought the color medium. My daughter bought fair and she wears a #2 in Clinique if you want to compare colors. I have darker skin than she does and like a bit more coverage. I would love a foundation with a higher SPF but at least it has an SPF of 15.
The claims are that it is "all-natural"-made from pure crushed minerals, so it is good for your skin. Aside from that, they also claim that I'll looks better. Even though it's a powder (and most people tend to think that powder will make you look older) this is not supposed to settle into lines.
It is made of pure, crushed minerals from the earth.
From www.sephora.com bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation looks like a powder, feels like a cream and buffs on like silk, giving skin a natural luminosity, and feels as if you are not wearing any makeup at all. The coverage is flawless, free of preservatives, talc, oil, waxes, fragrances, and other chemicals that can irritate skin and cause breakouts.
What is the product like?
Bare Escentuals contains no fragrances. I dont detect any real odor.
I have found that it has staying power. I dont have to add more during the day. My skin is dry in general however there are areas such as my forehead than can get shiny. I have found that it controls the shine on my forehead. I would think it would do a great job on oily skin. Over the years I have used foundation that has done nothing for shine.
I also have had no adverse reactions.
I would definitely recommend a good brush. You dont have to spend a lot of money but at first I was using the brush I use for my blush and I found that it didnt blend well. When I bought a powder brush that did the trick and it blended onto my skin really nicely.
Another product I bought and use in conjunction is the Mineral Veil. I have found that using this top layer really enhances an already great product.
The ingredients from the pot are: Bismuth Oxychloride, Mica, Iron Oxides. It also says that it m ay contain: Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide. Just as an aside Mica seems to be the common ingredient in the 3 products I bought.
Jos final thoughts::
I would not recommend buying this foundation without testing it first, and using a brush on your face, if possible. It's too concentrated to tell what the color is like if you just dab it on in one spot. The exception to this is if you use the above Clinique color or if you know makeup well enough to be able to tell the colors at www.sephora.com.
I really like the foundation and the whole line of products, thus far. I was really concerned about using a powder foundation because of it getting into fine lines on my face but rather than doing anything negative I think it enhances the way my face looks. I think it's key to apply it correctly.
I also do think I look less "mask-y" and more "airbrushed." It doesn't cover the few red spots that laser didnt get. I love the color it gives me.
In general the claims are accurate. It does feel creamy and gives my skin a nice color without any shine. The coverage is very good and it goes on well with the right brush.
I have given a lot of thought to why I like my Sephora foundation better and would rate that 5 stars and this 4 stars. I think it has to do with my age.
I can say that Bare Escentuals Foundation is a really good option for any age since I've found many drug store foundations don't eliminate shine, and for dry/aging skin it tends to draw attention away from fine lines which some foundations don't do.
So my final, final thoughts are that for oily skin it's a definite recommend, and for dry/aging skin, I would recommend it if you don't have a foundation that you already love like I did and will return to either when I finish Bare Escentuals foundation or give it to my younger daughter.
