Pros: Natural looking, doesn't crease, doesn't rub off, stays put all day, actually improves your skin.
Cons: Seems expensive, but a little goes a long way.
The Bottom Line: Cheer up, Sleepy Jean! A beautiful complexion is just a swirl, tap and buff away!

| vraiblonde's Full Review: Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation |
My husband took me to New York City for my 42nd birthday to see Davy Jones at BB King's House of Blues. The day of the concert, we were walking around Times Square and I wandered into Sephora to scope out the goodies. While taking a break from sniffing perfumes, I ran across the Bare Minerals display of starter kits - $60 for two foundations, Skin Rev-er Upper, Mineral Veil, Warmth and three application brushes.
I'd seen the infomercials - swirl, tap, buff and suddenly the model's blotchy skin is flawless. I scoffed at those infomercials but there I was with $100 of birthday money and that starter kit staring me in the face.
So I bought it! After all, I WAS seeing Davy that night and I had to look good, right?
So I got back to my hotel room and washed my face, popped in the instructional DVD that they had so thoughtfully included and began to swirl, tap and buff.
First comes the Rev-er Upper - this is a mineral lotion that creates the base for your foundation. You can skip this and just use your regular moisturizer - it will still look great.
Next you tap a teeny bit of the Bare Minerals into the foundation lid, swirl the kabuki brush so it picks up the foundation and absorbs it. Tap the brush on the side of the foundation lid to remove the excess, then you start lightly buffing all over your face and....
Well, I'll be darned! It worked! My skin looked polished and flawless. No dark spots. No enlarged pores. No mask-like cakeyness. Just a glowing complexion, exactly like that model's! Finish with a bit of Warmth on my cheeks and brow bone, then tap a smidge of Mineral Veil into the lid, swirl, tap and buff to set the foundation and blend in the Warmth.
It's hard to believe such a small amount can cover so well, yet leave your skin looking natural. You know how you start off looking great and by the end of the day your foundation pools into the lines under your eyes and around your nose, making you look older than God? Bare Minerals doesn't do that. Nor does it rub off. I was wearing a white collar shirt and typically I'd have had major ring-around-the-collar going on within minutes. If you rub your face or scratch your nose, the Bare Minerals foundation stays put.
In fact, it stays put all day long with no need for touch-ups. I can apply in the morning, go to work, meet my husband for dinner afterward, maybe catch a band and dance a bit, and my face still looks the same as it did when I left the house.
The foundation alone is $25, which seems like a lot of money but a little goes a long way, so it's really about the same as a bottle of Maybelline. I'm still on my original starter kit size of the Warmth, and the foundation and Mineral Veil (starter size, less than half of the full size product) lasted me a good 4 months.
I have definitely noticed an improvement in my skin since using Bare Minerals. My pores have gotten smaller and my skin is more even-toned now as well. I got my sisters-in-law a starter kit for Christmas and now they're believers, too.
And Davy? Well, he took one look at me from across the room, stopped the concert and begged me to bear his flawless-skinned love children.
(Okay, not really. But I'm sure he would have if all those screaming women up front hadn't been blocking his view.)
