I just could NOT convince myself that a powder foundation would work for me, Sorry; But I just didn't believe it!
After reading a recent review on this product, I went to Ebay and purchased a sample starter kit which came with two shades foundation in (#3 medium) and (#2.3 med. beige).
Each clear pot was the size of a quarter in circumference and contained 1/4 teaspoon of bareMinerals powder foundation. The pots had a sealed sifter inserted with several tiny holes for dispensing into the lid. I didn't want to purchase a full 9 grams or even the 2 grams size until I tried it first.
I paid only 9.95 for my sample kit plus 3.00 shipping cost. One single large size of 9 grams being 25.00 and I thought was outrageous!
Available shades in the powder foundation are; Fairly light, Medium, Medium Beige, Medium Tan, Tan, Warm Tan, Deep Tan, and Deepest Tan.

First, (with the lid on) turn the pot upside down and then upright again. Unscrew the top and you'll see a small amount of powder foundation left in the lid. Doesn't look like much; But this is all you need for one application.
Now place the tip of your brush into the lid and swirl around until the powder minerals are contained inside the brush...
Next; Hold your brush over the sifter pot and tap to remove the excess of foundation. Okay; just buff the foundation onto your skin in a circular motion. Don't forget; It's important to buff, buff buff. You can't over-buff with this product. Buffing is the trick for an even application.

My Experience Honestly it took me a couple times to get it down "pat". This really is something different and a new experience for me. I've always used liquid or cream foundations, and never used face powder once reaching the age of fine lines and a few wrinkles....
My first mistake was not buffing the foundation into my skin enough. There were a couple small spots on my face that stood out when I looked in the mirror, (a couple hours later); So I buffed those away without any added foundation on the brush. At least I was home and not at work. LOL Of course that's the way I planned it...
Next day, I exfoliated my skin first, (which I do once a week), and applied my moisurizer. Exfoliation is also important to remove the dead skin cells, which helps your skin to receive a smoother application when applying makeup.
This time I swirled, tapped, and buffed away. No problems with any spots noticed later in the day. Okay! I've got the knack of it now!
I really love the way it makes my skin look. Doesn't settle into the few lines and wrinkles. The mineral makeup seems to adhere to my skin and becomes like my own skin. I've noticed that as the day goes on; My face looks even better, with a slight natural glow. Don't know why; Maybe because it just melts into my skin with the body temperature...
I don't have any markings left that shows where the makeup starts or ends. Looks natural and pretty. My natural skin has been enhanced. Stays on well, and washes off easily with my Dove face cleanser.
A little goes a long way. When I first opened my sample pot of 1/4 teaspoon; My thought, was maybe three applications. I was wrong! I've gotten six uses so far and looks like I might get four more...
This is a wonderful product and a new innovation that I enjoy using; and I must say, Naturally Pretty..
I ordered the 9 gram size two days ago and I'm tossing liquid foundations for good. I've been converted!
I must take back what I said. 25.00 for a 9 gram size isn't outrageous at all, because it will last me for a long time, maybe 6 months.(my guess)
One more point I forgot to mention. You really can sleep in Bare Escentuals bareMinerals SPF 15 Foundation.
I tried it, and there's no makeup stains on pillow at all.
Following the next morning, I looked into the mirror and my face still looked pretty good. That was surprising to me. Yes, I did wash my face, LOL and apply a fresh buffing of the natural minerals foundation
BareMinerals is good for my skin. No breakouts, redness, burning, itching or anything. The #3 medium is a match for my skin tone right now.
