| Ohara1861's Full Review: Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Maker |
We've had this playset for over a year and have had much fun with it. My girls love to make their own ice cream and ices and it only takes about 5-10 minutes to have it in their bowls.
The mixer is easy to assemble and is made mostly of plastic with the exception of the tumbler, which is metal.
Aside from the ice cream powder packets, you will need a lot of ice cubes, salt and half and half. You need to put the salt and the ice in the tumbler so that the ice cream will freeze.
A little sprinkler comes with this so you can fill it with sprinkles (jimmies) and other little ice cream toppers. There is also a "grater" that will crumble cookies, candy, etc.
The ices come in a different package that you need to buy separately. They come in fun fruity colors that advertise will turn your tongue the same shade as the ice. It really doesn't discolor that much but I have seen many tongues fly out of a mouth with one of my girls saying 'Is my tongue blue, red, etc.?'.
All in all, it's a fun little gadget to have, especially if you don't have a real icecream maker. Clean up is simple and my girls really enjoy turning the crank and watching the icecream slip down the chute.
One package will make enough for 3-4 little cupfuls or enough for 1 decent sized bowl. I'm glad we have this and will be pulling it out again once the warm weather comes for a visit.
