Bass Shoes Exeter Oxfords Shoes for Men

The Bass Exeterm oxfords was just the one I wanted while I was shopping around for a brown pair of oxford shoes 4 years ago. The leather looked really good and the dark brown color was the selling point as I needed one for office wear. 

Since buying the pair I have worn it less than 10 times for the entire past 4 years. Sad to say there are many negatives which eventually outweighed my initial attraction to the shoe.

I'll break this review into pros and cons rather than anything else. By the end of this review it might be clear why I rated the shoes with a single star.

Pros
The dark brown color of this leather is hard to find. More of a chocolate colored brown which would go very well with any brown dress trouser.

The outsole is of sturdy rubber. When I say sturdy it has a 1 inch heel and half an inch toe as the outsole.

Theres good traction and provides adequate grip on tiled surfaces.

The shoe is glued to the outsole and looks to be quite well held although I cannot vouch for the durability since I have rarely worn these.

Cons
The shoe is as stiff as anything you'll ever find. I simply cannot belive I fell for the looks of the shoe whereas practically the shoe is unwearable.

You might end up with a sprained wrist if you try to bend the shoe. The outsole is so thick you can use it as a weapon to knock someone out!

And wait...its not only the outsole which is thick and stiff even the leather of this shoe is stiff! Not sure what kind of leather is used but it surely is not at all comfortable. 

In fact the very reason for me not to wear this was due to the cuts it made on my ankles. The edges of the shoe hugging the ankle is razor sharp.

Not even the laces could save some grace for this shoe as the lace knot doesnt hold for long.  

The inside tongue of the shoe specifies the shoe name and the size. It also mentions "leather upper balance, man made materials" and ends with "Made in China". 

Concluding thoughts
This pair of shoes I would call garbage material. Its rather suited as a weapon than a pair of shoes. Its a shame really since I still have this pair lying in my shoe rack getting dusted from time to time but I cannot sum up the courage to wear it again. I hate to throw it away since its hardly worn and still looks good. And I hate to donate it to anyone coz I dont want to be cursed at some point for putting someone else in harm!
