Bath & Body Works Dancing Waters Hand Cream ~ Nice, but Not My Favorite Scent
Written: Aug 16 '09
Product Rating:
Pros: Very hydrating and rich, moisture is long-lasting
Cons: Doesn't absorb quickly, scent "turns" after application
The Bottom Line: This is an excellent hand cream that soothes and smoothes, provides long-lasting moisture. The fragrance isn't my favorite though, and smells different on my skin.

A while back I took advantage of a $50 Bath & Body Works gift card, and one of my choices was this hand cream. I have dry skin and use a lot of hand cream, so I decided to try this one.
~ Product Description
Here's what Bath & Body Works has to say, taken from their website: "With nourishing shea and murumuru butters and enriching bees wax, our Signature Healing Hand Cream is now clinically proven to soothe dryness and provide a protective moisture barrier to rough, irritated hands and cuticles. Our non-greasy formula absorbs quickly, leaving hands feeling soft, conditioned and beautifully fragrant."
The key ingredients are shea butter and murumuru butter, aloe for soothing, and oat kernel protein also for soothing. The tube also claims that smoothing this into hands several times daily will make your skin soft, smooth, and visible healed.
The Dancing Waters scent is described as "refreshing, inspired by cool water flowing through a field of fresh flowers." The key fragrance notes are water lily, Asian pear drops, crushed basil leaves, and white musk.
Bath & Body Works Dancing Waters Hand Cream comes in a 4 oz. plastic tube that sits on its flip-up cap. The 4 oz. tube sells for $12. You can also find this in a smaller, 2.5 oz. size for $10. Look for special promotions for better prices.
~ My Experience
I'm always slathering on hand cream, so I was excited to see what this one was like. Out of the tube it is a thick and rich white cream. I did sniff this in the store before purchasing and thought I liked the scent, as it did seem like a fresh, clean kind of scent.
When I first applied this I liked the fragrance, which is definitely noticeable but not super overpoweringly strong or perfumy. The cream is very soothing to my skin and felt rich and indulgent. This doesn't absorb as quickly as many hand creams, and briefly left my skin a little greasy feeling, like I didn't want to touch anything right away. In a few minutes it did fully absorb though, and left my skin well moisturized, and feeling like there was a protective moisture barrier. Just be aware this hand cream does not immediately absorb. The hydration lasts a long time, too, like several hours, so that was a real plus.
Now the scent is funny to me - when I first apply it, I like it, but after the scent warms from my skin it changes and gets a little "off." I don't know, but I've discovered I don't really care for the Dancing Waters scent much.
~ Final Thoughts Bath & Body Works Dancing Waters Hand Cream is an excellent hand cream that soothes, smoothes, and hydrates skin very well, providing a moisture barrier that lasts for hours. The scent doesn't do it for me though. The fragrance "turns" after it warms from my skin, and I just don't find it appealing. With so many fabulous Bath & Body Works scents to choose from, I won't buy this again. I suggest you try this and see how the scent develops before you purchase. Maybe it's just my body chemistry. Otherwise, it's a very nice hand cream.
