Pros: Lots of appealing scents, priced reasonably.
Cons: Funky drydown, no moisture, scents don't last.
The Bottom Line: There's much better out there. These aren't moisturizing and the scents aren't true.

| redhotspicy's Full Review: Bath & Body Works Moisture Rich Body Lotion |
Bath & Body Works, what a fun place. It's heaven for anyone who loves lotions, creams, candles and whatnot. I might as well admit it... I have a serious lotion problem. Meaning I can't stop buying it! My favorites mostly come from various small etailers, but every now and then I'll take a peek into old Bath & Body Works for a little fun.
I first sampled Bath & Body Works as a teenager, in the form of their infamous 3-piece gift basket - you know, the lotion, spray, and body wash. Fun stuff for a girl of any age, right? Bath & Body Works Moisture Rich Body Lotion comes in a million (or close to it!) different delicious scents. What's not to like, you ask?
I'll tell you what! The lotion! Yuck! (Sorry, I had to get that off my chest).
Bath & Body Works Moisture Rich Body Lotion is packaged in nice clear plastic bottles, with the type of caps where you push down to open it. Each bottle contains 8 ounces of lotion, and costs $9 when purchased individually (not part of a set). Near sale times and the holidays, B&BW sometimes brings back some old scents or introduces limited edition scents that are in bigger bottles. And of course, there's always the smaller travel sized bottles - I believe they're 4 ounces. Either way, B&BW Moisture Rich Body Lotion is pretty reasonably priced for novelty-type lotion, in my opinion. Or, it would be, if the lotions were any good! Right now Bath & Body Works can only be purchased in an actual B&BW boutique. Luckily, theres a lot of them!
B&BW claims are simple: "Treat your skin to daily nourishment with our Moisture Rich Body Lotion."
Of course, B&BW has some "special" ingredients, like Vitamin C & E to nourish; Aloe Vera to moisturize and condition; Apple, Oat, & Grape seed extract to help protect skin.
The big selling point for B&BW lotions and potions are the SCENTS. They have an exhaustive and ever-changing lineup of mouthwatering scents to choose from. Because the list changes so often, especially around the holidays, if you find a scent you just love, you better snap it up! Chances are, many of the scents are either Limited Edition (seasonal) or will be discontinued in a short time. I'll just give you a few of my personal favorite scents: Vanilla Bean Noel, Rice Flower and Shea, Coconut Lime Verbena, Gingerbread Spice, Moonlight Path... really, all the scents offered are appealing. They've got fruity, spicy, foody, florals, and fresh scents. The list of scents isn't remotely as long as that of some etailers, but still, for a mall store, it's impressive! One complaint on the actual scents themselves: I find some to smell a bit plastic-y or chemically. Not most, but some. Just make sure you take a good whiff, you'll know if it smells a little off. Of course, the lasting power of the scents is a whole different playing field (more on that later).
The color of the lotion coordinates with the scent of your choosing. For instance, Cucumber Melon (a big seller, but not my favorite) is pale green, Country Apple is pink, and so on and so forth.
You might be wondering by now why I dislike this lotion so much. Its simple. For me, the primary function of a lotion is to moisturize my dry skin. Yes, I do like it to smell attractive and be pleasant to use, but it must also be moisturizing. And B&BW Moisture Rich Body Lotion is not. The texture of the lotion is smooth and creamy, and thick enough, although not as thick as some. In other words its an average lotion on first glance. When I smooth it onto my skin, it initially feels rather emollient, and pretty moisturizing. And of course, it smells wonderful. But! They fooled me! Give it a half hour and THEN look at my skin! Its even drier than before, and flaky and tight and itchy. Slathering on more B&BW Moisture Rich Body Lotion isnt going to make a difference. Im still left with very dry, itchy skin that needs some REAL lotion!
So maybe your skin isnt as dry as mine. Maybe all you need is a light lotion. Even then, I dare say youll be disappointed. That lovely scent, the selling point behind lotion, disappears in no time at all. If I use this lotion at say, 7 am, I cant smell it by 9. Even by holding my arm up to my nose and sniffing, I cant smell even a whiff. For me, its pretty much the same as not using lotion at all, since my skin isnt moisturized or scented. The drydown on some of the lotions is a little weird, too. Meaning that, once dry, some of the scents smell a lot different than they do in the bottle. Its normal for scents to react to your body chemistry, but I find that B&BW tend to alter a lot. For me, its pretty much the same as not using lotion at all, since my skin isnt moisturized or scented nicely.
Ingredients:
These are from the bottle of Cucumber Melon in front of me: water, glycerin, petrolatum, cetyl alcohol, cetearyl alcohol, dimethicone, fragrance, ceteareth 20, aloe barbadensis gel, macademia ternifolia nut oil, carbomer, sodium hydroxide, propylene glycol, tocopheryl acetate, ascorbic acid, oat extract, grape extract, apple extract, trisodium EDTA, benzyl alcohol, diazolidinyl urea, methylparaben, propylparaben, blue 1, green 3, yellow 5.
Would I recommend this? Not in a million years. Youre much better off at The Body Shop, or an online lotion store (an etailer), or even at B&BW for their Body Cream, all of which actually moisturize.
