As a general rule, I don't typically care for most Bath & Body Works products. I tend to find them of average quality at best, overpriced for the level of quality, and too "cutesy" for my tastes. That said, I think I've found a pleasant surprise in their Pleasures Body Cream!
About the Product:
The packaging of my Pleasures Body Cream doesn't offer much information. I currently have 5 tubes of the stuff in my possession and none seem to claim much of anything! From my tube of Rice Flower & Shea: "Nourishing Avocado Oil, Smoothing Fruit Enzymes and Conditioning Calendula and Almond Oils."
Price, Packaging, Purchasing:
Each 8 ounce tube of Pleasures Body Cream retails for $10 at Bath & Body Works boutiques. The tube is translucent plastic with a flip-top cap. To the best of my knowledge, this and all Bath & Body Works products can be purchased only at their stores. bath & Body Works frequently runs a promotion where products are buy 3, get one free.
Scents:
One of my biggest gripes about Bath & Body Works is how often they discontinue and phase out scents! There is a constant influx of new scents available, though many appear to be seasonal and available for only a few weeks. Bath & Body Works does not publish a list of available scents anywhere, or at least that's what I was told when I attempted to obtain one.
Anyone is sure to find a scent they like. I definitely don't care for quite a few of their scents, but I do enjoy several: Rice Flower & Shea, Moonlight Path, Pearberry, and Mango Mandarin are all current favorites of mine.
My Experience:
Directions on this product are simple: Smooth over skin, focusing on dry spots like elbows, knees, and heels. I like to use this product after my shower, when my skin is still slightly damp. I find it absorbs best that way. The cream is very rich and thick, and holds its shape when squeezed from the tube. It appears very glossy and looks as if it will be difficult to massage in. But luckily, its not! Pleasures Body Cream actually seems to absorb pretty well, for a thick cream. It leaves my skin scented and smooth and does moisturize well. Freshly shaved legs feels soothed and my dry, flaky skin looks and feels much better. Hours after applying the cream, my skin is still comfortable and moisturized.
Used liberally, the cream can leave a sticky residue on my skin. By applying it conservatively on slightly damp skin, I am able to combat this problem. There isn't a greasy or oily feeling, just silky smooth soft skin!
The scent comes off pretty strongly when I first use the cream, but it gradually fades. Hours after application I can just barely detect a hint of scent when I sniff my arm. I don't mind this at all, because it doesn't interfere too much with other scents I may wear. However, it does smell strongly enough where I think an entirely different perfume could be overkill. I like to wear a coordinating perfume, or no perfume at all with this cream.
Some Bath & Body Works scents have an annoying tendency to "turn" on me. I realize that everyone's body reacts differently to varying scents, but I have a particular problem with Bath & Body Works scents becoming plastic-y. For me it's a gamble, I've given away a number of Bath & Body Works products due to this issue.
Overall:
Pleasures Body Cream has really given me a pleasurable surprise! I find myself reaching for this cream pretty often - I like a few of the scents, it's moisturizing and rich, there's little greasy feeling, and the price is affordable. I'm rating this 4 stars and recommending it if you like scented body creams!
