Pros: Long lasting, good for your lips, healing.
Cons: Price s a tad high.
I know Burt's Beeswax is a very popular lip balm these days. I even bought a tube of it about a year ago. There is something about that pepperminty balm tingling on my lips though, that doesn't quite sit right with me. I sometimes think I am the only person on earth who doesn't care for Burt's Bees Lip Balm. (Burt's Bees Lip Balm's ingredients are: Beeswax, coconut oil, sunflower oil, tocopheryl acetate [Vitamin E], lanolin, titanium dioxide, peppermint oil, comfrey root extract, rosemary extract. Manufactured by Burt's Bees Inc., Durham, NC 22709).
For years I have used regular ol' Chapstick, which is fine, but tends to make my lips feel a bit on the waxy side. Don't get me wrong, I like Chapstick and feel it is a good BASIC lip balm that has been around for years. (Chapstick's ingredients are: 44% Petrolatums, 1.5% Padimate O, 1% Lanolin, 1% Isopropyl Myristate, 0.5% Cetyl Alcohol. Manufactured by A.H. Robins Company, Richmond, VA 23220)
I did a review about the wonders of (Soy and) Shea Body Butter a few years ago Shea Wonder Butter. This past week, I wandered into a Bath & Body Works Shop at my local mall. I had received a gift certificate from someone and wanted to check out this store, since I had never been to one. Honestly, although most of the products are appealing to most people, even to me, I cannot use many of the scented lotions and sprays because of my sensitive skin and eczema. So I walked around and around trying to figure out how to spend my gift certificate. Finally after about my third time around, I spotted a small area of the store dedicated to brushes, pumice stones and shea butter .
Just then I zeroed in on True Blue Wet Your Whistle Shea Butter Moisturizing Lip Balm! Now this had potential! I am a big fan of SHEA BUTTER because it is so good for your skin and I understand that health care professionals recommend it also. After reading the ingredients, I decided that there was nothing that would be detrimental to my skin or lips. I have liked the way shea butter felt and worked on my complexion and skin, so I figured I should give the True Blue Wet Your Whistle Shea Butter Lip Balm a try on my lips. I took a tube of it to the counter (along with another tub of pure shea butter) to complete my gift certificate purchase and the clerk told me that they were having a special. It was a lip balm special -- 4 lip balms for $10. It took me about three seconds to decide to get the special. To say I am very happy with this product is almost an understatement. I now keep one Shea Butter Lip Balm in my purse, one in my desk at work, one in my nightstand and one in the bathroom. Very handy to have one within reach everywhere.
This product feels great on my lips. It glides on so smoothly and helps to heal my lips, which usually tend to be terribly dry especially in winter. When using Shea Butter Lip Balm, my lips really feel moist and protected. I notice that it is long lasting too, which is great because I don't have to constantly reapply it. It is such a relief too to find a product that does not irritate my skin too or make my eczema flair up. There is also a very light fragrance and taste which is very pleasant.
The container is the same size as a regular Chapstick tube with a plastic cap.
